The seventh installment in the fan-favorite Tremors horror movie series is coming to home video just in time for Halloween, with the new movie Tremors: Shrieker Island.
A wealthy tycoon has transformed a remote, tropical island as his personal hunting ground in the upcoming film, using graboids and other variations of the subterranean monsters from the franchise. However, things quickly spiral out of control, with the hunters becoming the hunted as the burrowing monsters take on raptor-like forms to stalk the humans on the island.
Longtime star Michael Gross returns to reprise his role as Burt Gummer, a survivalist who has starred in five of the preceding films, including the 1990 original film and the spinoff television series. Joining him is Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder as an inexperienced, incompetent hunter that clashes with Burt as they struggle to stay alive.
Shrieker Island was filmed this past November in Thailand, with filmmaker Don Michael Paul returning to direct and co-write the movie. The original film's star Kevin Bacon has expressed interest in reprising his role as Val McKee, even starring in the pilot episode for a proposed television revival of the series for SYFY in 2017.
Directed and co-written by Don Michael Paul, Tremors: Shrieker Island stars Michael Gross, Jon Heder, Jackie Cruz, Richard Brake and Caroline Langrishe. The film will be released on digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 20.
