After tantalizing fans with concept art, set photos and an IMAX featurette, director Michael Bay is nearly ready to debut the first trailer for "Transformers: The Last Knight."

In a brief video posted on the "Transformers" Twitter account, the filmmaker announced the teaser for the fifth installment of the Paramount Pictures franchise will arrive Dec. 16 with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

It's likely to have plenty of company, as the first trailer for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is also expected to be attached to "Rogue One"; undoubtedly, there will be plenty more.

Bay's final "Transformers" film as director, "The Last Knight" brings back franchise veterans Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro for what appears to be a centuries-spanning adventure, with stops in the Middle Ages, World War II and the present day, for starters. It even has King Arthur.

The "Transformers" franchise, which debuted in 2007, has earned $3.78 billion to date, to become the 10th-highest grossing film series.

Opening June 23, 2017, "Transformers: The Last Knight" also stars Isabela Moner, Liam Garrigan, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, Santago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins, and features the voices of Peter Cullen, John Goodman and others.
