The next entry in the Transformers movie franchise is reportedly looking for a lead in the mold of Tessa Thompson.

A report from Transformers Live Action Movie Blog indicates that the next untitled Transformers movie is looking to cast a performer similar to Thompson, with examples including Ruth Negga, Jurnee Smollett and Zoe Kravitz.

It was recently revealed that, after an exhaustive search by Paramount Pictures and Hasbro Studios, Creed 2 director Steven Caple Jr. had been hired to helm the next entry in the Transformers saga. His film will be based on a screenplay by Joby Harold that reportedly functions as a follow-up to the 2018 Transformers film Bumblebee.

Other Transformers projects in development include a project penned by Independence Day: Resurgence and Zodiac writer James Vanderbilt based on the Beast Wars: Transformers mythology. Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley is also reported to be helming an entirely animated Transformers prequel movie for Paramount and Hasbro's entertainment studio eOne.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the upcoming untitled Transformers movie is set for release on June 24, 2022.
