Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will feature the live-action debut of Beast Wars' Optimus Primal, and to bring him to life, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have recruited Ron Perlman.

Debuting in 1996, Beast Wars: Transformers ran for three seasons and was followed by the two-season sequel series Beast Machines: Transformers. Taking place 300 years after the main Transformers stories, warring factions the Maximals and Predacons land on Earth and assume the forms of various animals. The series, one of the first CGI-animated shows, featured overarching stories that saw the appearance of more and more characters, featured changing forms for the heroes and villains and wove in elements of Transformers lore.

Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., Transformers: Rise of the Beasts stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Peter Cullen and Ron Perlman. The film has yet to receive a release date.
