The trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is here and it's filled with all the action fans of the franchise have come to expect.

The video itself doesn't give away much in terms of the film's plot but does tease the arrival of fan-favorite factions that will seemingly oppose both the Autobots and the Decepticons: The Maximals, the Terrocons and the Predabots. As expected, Rise of the Beasts will include plenty of familiar faces, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee and Mirage.

The seventh entry in the sprawling live-action Transformers series is expected to fill in some gaps in the story, taking place between 2018's Bumblebee and Michael Bay's 2007 film. Rise of the Beasts is set in New York City in 1994, a time that has also prompted some significant changes to the robot's designs. While most big-screen adaptations have updated the looks of the Autobots and Decepticons, Paramount's next film is harkening back to the first generation, utilizing classic designs reminiscent of the original animated series.

As for the tone fans can expect, director Steven Caple Jr. explained that his vision for Transformers is heavily influenced by some of the 1990s most iconic action movies. "Terminator 2 is classic. The heaviness of the metal, if you will, all that stuff plays into it. So I think when you’re looking at our film and looking at sort of where we’re taking it, [we] kind of want to bring that classic expedition, that classic journey through New York and where we go from there," Caple said.

Rise of the Beasts, beyond being an adaptation many enthusiasts have actively pushed for, will also kick off a new trilogy of films. While there are currently no details on the eighth and ninth movies, they will likely continue the narrative up until 2007's Transformers. Paramount also confirmed that a CGI animated film based on the Robots In Disguise is also expected to hit theaters in 2024 but details on this project are similarly scarce.

Based on Hasbro's iconic toys, the Transformers franchise is a decades-spanning story that has seen several significant adaptations, revivals and reboots. The series chronicles the neverending battle between the Autobots and Decepticons who are fighting for control of their homeworld of Cybertron. When the war eventually leaves the planet, Optimus Prime and his team head to Earth to protect its inhabitants and halt the villainous Megatron's lust for power.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hits theaters on June 9, 2023.
