A new Jetfire action figure from the IDW incarnation of Transformers will be available in time for Christmas.

The figure is based on Jetfire's appearance in the new Transformers: Shattered Glass comic book and will come with a copy of Issue #5 included. The description for the figure alludes to an alternate reality take on the Transformers mythos, "Where the bad guys are good, and the good guys are bad."

Transformers: Generations Shattered Glass Commander Class Jetfire

  • (Ages 8 and Up / Approx. Retail Price: $91.99 Pulse / Available: December 1, 2021)
  • The Shattered Glass Collection Commander JETFIRE figure stands at 11 inches tall, converts from robot to Cybertronian Jet mode in 36 steps, and comes with 12 armor and weapon accessories and 6 blast effects. This JETFIRE figure's deco is inspired by the Shattered Glass universe, complete with a purple AUTOBOT logo that rotates to reveal a red DECEPTICON logo. With conflicted loyalties to the DECEPTICON cause, JETFIRE defected, joining the AUTOBOTS and their quest for universal conquest.

The toy line promises to deliver "classic Transformers characters, with a twist!" This puts it at odds with the traditional G1 Transformers now available to stream for free on YouTube. It also mirrors the aesthetic transformation which took place after The Transformers: The Movie revolutionized the toy industry in the 1980s.

This version of Jetfire is described as a defector whose "decision results in a Cybertron-shattering event." The Shattered Glass storyline will conclude the "Shards" arc currently taking place in the the comic, which has been described as a bleak and somber iteration of Transformers. It is the latest of IDW's Transformers books but far from the first to reimagine old characters. Transformers: Beast Wars recently reintroduced the Predacon Blackarachnia as a more empowered individual than the character from the original show.
