Transformers & Ghostbusters Collide in New Miniseries

IDW Publishing has announced a new miniseries crossing over two beloved film franchises from the 1980s, the Transformers and the Ghostbusters.

Coming from Cybertron after the decimation of the Great War, the Autobots follow a signal to Earth that brings them to a close encounter with those professionals of paranormal investigation and elimination: Venkman, Spengler, Stantz and Zeddmore.

The long-time Ghostbusters creative team of Erik Burnham, Dan Schoening and Luis Antonio Delgado will write and illustrate Transformers / Ghostbusters, which will run for five issues. Meanwhile, variant first-issue covers will be drawn by Schoening, Paulina Ganucheau, Nick Roche and Alex Milne.

Transformers / Ghostbusters will tie into a new toy line that began with the unveiling of the ECTO-1 ECTOTRON figure at the 2019 Toy Fair. ECTOTRON is a new character introduced in the miniseries that is poised for surprises.

"Ghostbusters has shared a long and successful relationship with IDW Publishing,” Executive Vice President, Worldwide Consumer Products for Sony Pictures Entertainment Jamie Stevens said in a statement. “We’re happy to continue our Ghostbusters comic book adventures alongside Hasbro and their amazing Transformers brand with this one-of-a-kind crossover event celebrating our shared 35-year anniversaries.”

"1984 was a seismic shift for entertainment, the year that launched both Transformers and Ghostbusters,” John Barber, IDW Editor-in-Chief added. “Back then, Little John Barber was right there for Transformers and a little scared of Ghostbusters — but now, I’m a bit braver and can’t wait to see the two worlds collide. Seriously, it’s amazing to think that these sets of characters would be more alive and relevant in 2019 than ever before… and will be coming together in an unprecedented way right here at IDW!"

Whether you're right there for Transformers or a little scared of Ghostbusters, the new miniseries has something for you.  Transformers / Ghostbusters hits shelves in June.
