The Transformers series is one of the more popular franchises in all of media. This franchise is full of different series that constantly pull more fans in year after year. Part of the reason for that is due to the awesome toys that come with it. The other part is due to the absolutely amazing shows that have spawned from it.

One of those shows is the influential Transformers: Beast Wars, one of, if not, the best Transformers television show. This series is one of the first full 3D shows and was an amazingly written children's show that adults can enjoy to this day.

10 THE CAST OF CHARACTERS IS SMALLER FOR A REASON

Some may dislike that Transformers: Beast Wars follows a much smaller cast of characters than that of other Transformers animated series. For example, shows like Transformers: Armada features a cast of dozens of robots in disguise while Transformers: Beast Wars sports just 25 that come and go throughout the series.

However there is a reason for this smaller sized cast. Developing CGI character models was in its early phases and was expensive as well. This lead to the smaller number of Transformers seen throughout the show's run.

9 THE TRANSFORMERS HERE ARE A LOT SMALLER THAN THE ORIGINALS

In the world of Transformers: Beast Wars the robots are on a whole different scale than the G1 Transformers like Optimus Prime and Megatron that fans remember. In fact, these Transformers are a lot smaller than them, only being a few feet taller than the average-sized human as seen in the series when they interact.

This is due to this new generation of Transformers being born to require a lot less energon than that of those before them. Their smaller size makes it easier to save and consume less energy.

8 IT WON AN EMMY

Many go around saying that Transformers: Beast Wars was an amazing show and some may not take that at face value. However, this series has one accomplishment that other Transformers shows and animated shows, in general, can't boast. Transformers: Beast Wars actually took home an Emmy.

In its prime of the year 1998, Transformers: Beast Wars was awarded an Outstanding Achievement in Animation Emmy at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

7 TWO OF ITS SEQUELS ARE ANIME

The Transformers: Beast Wars series actually has quite a few continuations on it's back. Some count it's second and third seasons as sequels as they both adopt subtitles to go with the new character evolutions. It also had an actual sequel series that has mixed reception called Transformers: Beast Machines.

However, in Japan, two sequel anime were created titled Beast Wars: Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Beast Wars Metals. Each features Optimus Primal but star the two new Primes, Lio Convoy and Big Convoy.

6 THE OPTIMUS AND MEGATRON HERE AREN'T THE ORIGINALS

Many make the mistake of thinking that Optimus Primal and Megatron in this series are somehow reborn versions of the original two Transformer leaders. However, that thought is quickly put away once any fan jumps head first into the series and learns that it's completely false.

These two new faction leaders are actually not even direct descendants of the big bots. They are simply two Transformers that lived up to and accepted the mantles of those before them.

5 RAVAGE IS ONE OF THE ONLY REMAINING DECEPTICONS

While the Decepticons make no real appearance in the show there is one that still remains. Due to an old treaty between the Autobots and Decepticons Ravage was pardoned of his past alliance with the evil faction of Robots in Disguise and was rebuilt into a member of the Predacons.

He makes an appearance in the series with the intention of apprehending Megatron due to him being too dangerous of a Predacon. Of course, this Megatron is just as tricky as the last and Ravage's loyalty to his old leader gets the best of him.

4 OPTIMUS, MEGATRON, AND STARSCREAM APPEAR

While other Autobots and Decepticons don't make appearances Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream do. Optimus and Megatron can be seen in their damaged ships that they awaken from to start off the original G1 series. Here the new Maximals and Predacon factions even run into them, though they are both in hypersleep.

Starscream even makes an appearance, albeit, in ghost form. As always his spark endured being destroyed by Galvatron and he ends up making his way to this past Earth while floating through time and space and possesses the Predacon Waspinator for a short period of time.

3 THIS SERIES TAKES PLACE IN THE PAST

As confusing as it is, Transformers: Beast Wars takes place in the past as well as the future. The series begins with these two small groups of Maximals and Predacons being lost in space and landing on a prehistoric planet. It is found out that this planet is actually prehistoric Earth.

That is why the Maximals and Decepticons are able to meet their ancestors before the events of G1 while they are still in hypersleep due to their crash.

2 IT TAKES PLACE AFTER EVERY OTHER PIECE OF TRANSFORMERS MEDIA

While Transformers: Beast Wars takes place in the past, it's characters are from the future. These characters were born after the events of G1 and are actually a more advanced version of Transformers, not only being techno-beings but organics as well.

That is why they were made to be so energon efficient, unlike their ancestors. They were created to be much better than them.

1 THE AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS ARE NO MORE

With that knowledge, it's easy to predict that the Autobots and Decepticons are no more. With their war over, they went and decided to create a new and more advanced life.

That new life became the Maximals and Predacons who are basically the new generations of these old factions. This is also why it is mentioned that the only Decepticon from this time period encountered in the show is Ravage, who technically isn't a Decepticon anymore.
