Transformers: Rise of the Beasts star Anthony Ramos revealed that he almost caught fire while filming the upcoming movie.

"The craziest day on set was I almost got burned by one of the fireworks that went off," Ramos said in an interview with SFX. "In one of the scenes, there's a big battle on this lawn at a museum. You can see some of it in the trailer. My windbreaker starts to catch fire a little bit. You can see a spark go into my windbreaker. It's the actual take that they used."

This is not the first time an accident has happened during the production of a Transformers movie. While work was underway on 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a damaged cable hit extra Gabriela Cedillo and a car accident involving a police SUV and a yellow Chevrolet Camaro occurred. There was also the incident where the original franchise leading man Shia LaBeouf was hurt while working on 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

What to Expect From Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

As for the film itself, director Steve Caple Jr. discussed some plot details regarding Rise of the Beasts, including how the film gives the villain Unicron a Thanos-esque arc, with the film being "stage one" of this plan. "I don't feel like it's over yet," Caple said. "I won't spoil the movie for you, but I feel like this was the intro to Unicron and seeing what he can do, and then we can just grow from here. We don't have to force it all in one movie. But I do think he needs to come alive. I do think he needs to speak. I do think we need to hint more – in the previous films, we would see just a horn or something small like that. The fans would go ballistic and say, 'We want Unicron!' I hope I did them right by giving them Unicron."

In 2021, Caple discussed how Rise of the Beasts will honor action movies from the '90s. "I think you'll feel the sense of a journey and expedition in this film," he said. "This go-around connects all of those to what you're saying. Terminator 2 is classic. The heaviness of the metal, if you will, all that stuff plays into it."

Additionally, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has commented that the upcoming film will contrast with its predecessors in the franchise in the sense that Rise of the Beasts will give Optimus Prime a character arc. However, he did not provide any further information. "The primary thing that’s happening is both humans have more agency than they’ve ever had in any of our movies. And they both have character arcs," he said. "And those character arcs are in conflict until they’re in unity. That’s a different experience for a Transformers fan."

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives in theaters on June 9, 2023.
