Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley is helming an animated Transformers prequel movie for Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s entertainment studio eOne.

According to Deadline, the film will take place on the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron and focus on the relationship between Autobot and Decepticon leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively.

Cooley won an Oscar for Best Animated Film for 2019's Toy Story 4, the latest installment in the fan-favorite franchise. Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp scribes Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari wrote the script for the upcoming Transformers prequel, with Hasbro producing.

The new animated film will also reportedly not be a part of the ongoing live-action Transformers and Bumblebee movies, or the future projects in development. The site also states that the animated film is being fast-tracked since a majority of the work can be done while those behind the scenes are quarantined at home, compared to if this was a live-action project.

Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari were a part of the original Transformers writers room that was created back in Sept. 2015. That announcement was the first time an animated movie focusing on Cybertron's origin became public.
