Michael Bay has been pulling off some epic stunts on the set the Transformers 3 recently, but an extra in northwest Indiana was seriously hurt Wednesday, just a day before Chicago filming was scheduled to end. The woman, 24-year-old Gabriela Cedillo, was airlifted to a nearby medical center following the incident in East Chicago. That delayed this morning's 6 a.m. shoot that was supposed to occur in Millennium Park. Fair warning here, the description of the incident sounds a little gruesome.

"The vehicle was being towed by another vehicle," Cedillo's fellow extra Blaine Baker told ABC7Chicago.com. "The cable between the two vehicles broke. It whipped around and sliced through the woman's car and sliced through her skull, apparently."

The Indiana State Police reportedly impounded the equipment that was involved. According to Baker, the entire side of the car Cedillo was traveling in slid into a center divider "grinding the side of the car off" over half a mile. Accidents happen on sets, but I guess when you attempt the kind of scenes that Michael Bay does, those accidents can be all the more disastrous.
