Trailers Arrive For Stallone and Schwarzenegger’s Action Films

It’s a good time to be a fan of classic action stars. As the ensemble film The Expendables 2 stands poised to bring in $30-35 million in its opening weekend, Hollywood continues to give some the icons of the genre a chance to shine again in solo efforts.

Warner Bros. has debuted a trailer for the Walter Hill-directed Bullet to the Head, a graphic-novel adaptation that stars Sylvester Stallone as a hitman whose partner is killed by a madman (Jason Momoa) who also murdered the partner of a cop played by Sung Kang. Stallone and Kung team up to go after the bad guy. The film was originally scheduled to open in April, but has been moved to a Feb. 1, 2013 release date.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has released the trailer for The Last Stand, which marks Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first lead role since his return to acting. Directed by Jee-woon Kim (A Take of Two Sisters, The Good, the Bad, the Weird), the film centers on a sheriff nearing retirement whose border town is about to be overtaken by drug runners (including Peter Stormare). The film, which arrives Jan. 18, also stars Luis Guzmann, Harry Dean Stanton, Rodrigo Santoro and Forest Whitaker.
