September has come and gone, and with autumn in full swing, Halloween season has officially begun with the start of October. And while plenty of horror-driven television and film projects loom on the horizon, this past week has also seen numerous anime series preparing to premiere over the course of the month while the 2021-2022 television season begins to gain momentum with its own set of eagerly anticipated premieres.

Here are all the biggest and best trailers, teasers and promos released this past week for television and film, including original programming and simulcast streaming coming this month for Crunchyroll, Disney+ and Netflix.

American Horror Story: Double Feature

For its 10th season, American Horror Story has taken two seemingly separate tales from different sub-genres within horror -- vampires and extraterrestrials -- before potentially tying them together. The latest promo for American Horror Story: Double Feature's second tale offers the best look at the invaders from outer space yet, with a strange alien that appears capable of controlling humans telepathically.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story: Double Feature airs Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT on FX.

Deaimon

The beloved slice-of-life manga series Deaimon, by Rin Asano, is being adapted into an anime series next year, with a first-look trailer offering a glimpse into the adventures of Nagumo Irino, who leaves behind his dreams of becoming a rock star in Tokyo to return home when he learns his father has grown ill. Taking over his family's confectionary shop, Nagumo must contend with everyone he left behind a decade ago to pursue his dream all while providing fresh sweets every day.

Directed by Fumitoshi Oizaki, Deaimon is slated to premiere in Japan in 2022.

Digimon Ghost Game

While the rebooted Digimon Adventure anime series may have come to an end, the digital monster franchise is right back with Digimon Ghost Game. Featuring new protagonists in Hiro Amanokawa and Ruri Tsukiyono, the series has Hiro team up with the Digimon to take on Hologram Ghosts that have been preying on the townspeople as Hiro stumbles into a world he never knew existed.

Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, Digimon Ghost Game premieres Oct. 3 and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll.

Encanto

After this past summer's Luca, Pixar Animation Studios' next feature film delves into a different kind of magic with this November's Encanto. Following the Madrigals, a magical family living in the mountains of Colombia that each have a unique ability, the one member of the family apparently born without powers of her own may be the family's best hope when the Madrigals find themselves under attack.

Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, Encanto will be released in theaters Nov. 24.

The Faraway Paladin

The successful light novel series The Faraway Paladin, by Kanata Yanagino and Kususaga Rin, is being adapted into a new anime series this month, with a simulcast set for Crunchyroll. Following a young boy named Will raised by a trio of undead individuals, Will decides to become a heroic paladin and venture beyond the woodland home he has known all his life, embarking on a sweeping, fantasy adventure.

Directed by Yuu Nobuta, The Faraway Paladin premieres Oct. 9 and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The Harder They Fall

Idris Elba and Jonathan Majors are facing off in the gritty Western film The Harder They Fall, with a new trailer delving into the bloody vendetta between the two. Majors portrays Nat Love, a man seeking revenge for the murders of his parents at the hands of Rufus Buck, portrayed by Elba. Boasting an all-star cast, the Western has this feud spill out on trains and the endless prairie with only one man poised to be left standing by the end.

Directed by Jeymes Samuel, The Harder They Fall will have a limited theatrical run beginning Oct. 22 before arriving on Netflix Nov. 3.

Just Beyond

One of the most prominent masters of horror is bestselling author R.L. Stine, whose original graphic novel Just Beyond is being adapted into an eight-episode series for Disney+ this month. Developed for television by prolific horror filmmaker Seth Grahame-Smith, Just Beyond will bring some family-friendly scares just in time for Halloween as its characters face a creepy variety of monster mash mayhem.

Created by Seth Grahame-Smith, Just Beyond premieres Oct. 13 on Disney+.

No Time to Die

After 15 years in the role, Daniel Craig's celebrated tenure as the iconic, British super-spy James Bond is coming to an end with this year's No Time to Die. Already released in select territories overseas, the latest promo for the film looks back across Craig's four previous films in the role before setting up the stakes for 007 as he returns to high-octane action one last time against the villainous Safin.

Directed and co-written by Cary Joji Fukunaga, No Time to Die premieres in theaters in the United States Oct. 8.

Riverdale

After returning from a lengthy midseason break this past August, Riverdale Season 5 is set to conclude this month, with the Season 6 premiere coming just over a month later. With the locals' favorite diner Pop's set ablaze, the characters are out to learn who is responsible while the soul of the town hangs in the balance. And judging by the trailer for the Season 5 finale, not all of Archie Andrews' friends may be walking away from this unhappy ending.

Developed for television by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale Season 5's finale airs Oct. 6 on The CW, with Season 6 set premiere Nov. 16.

Slumber Party Massacre

The 1982 cult classic slasher movie The Slumber Party Massacre is getting a new remake on Syfy just in time for Halloween. The horror movie reboot has a group of coeds leave for a scenic getaway at a remote cabin in the woods only to find themselves targeted by a serial killer wielding a power drill. Filmed in South Africa by The Banana Splits Movie director Danishka Esterhazy, the fresh take on the horror classic is looking to bring its self-aware sensibilities with plenty of bloody kills.

Directed by Danishka Esterhazy, Slumber Party Massacre premieres Oct. 16 on Syfy.

World Trigger

While the popular manga series World Trigger takes a month-long hiatus to accommodate the health of creator Daisuke Ashihara, the anime adaptation is set to premiere its third season this month, with a simulcast available to stream on Crunchyroll. The Season 3 trailer hints at plenty of intense battles to come as Mikada City continues to defend itself from extra-dimensional invaders known simply as the Neighbors.

Directed by Mitsuru Hongo, World Trigger Season 3 premieres Oct. 9 and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll.
