In its first full week, September 2021 has wasted no time coming off of a holiday weekend to unveil one of the biggest waves of trailers this year. Buoyed by Paramount+ celebrating Star Trek's 55th anniversary, Sony unveiling upcoming games for the PlayStation 5 in its latest PlayStation Showcase and a big October for The Walking Dead franchise, this past week was packed with teases for the weeks and months to come.

Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos released during the first full week of September 2021, from new Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max original programming to a robust wave of anime premieres set to unfold soon.

The Addams Family 2

After 2019's tremendously successful CG reboot of The Addams Family, the creepy and kooky ensemble is back with a sequel that makes the shocking implication that Wednesday may not actually be biologically related to the rest of her family. As this mystery arises, the Addams leave their usual haunted manor to go on a cross-country road trip for the summer, vacationing as only the Addams can.

Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, The Addams Family 2 premieres in theaters and on digital HD Oct. 1.

Aquaman: King of Atlantis

While filmmaker James Wan works diligently on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, he serves as an executive producer on a much more family-friendly take on the underwater superhero, with the animated miniseries Aquaman: King of Atlantis. Set to run for three episodes, the series has Aquaman and Mera defend Atlantis from nefarious surface-dwellers and Arthur Curry's evil half-brother, Ocean Master.

Created by Victor Courtright and Marley Halpern-Graser, Aquaman: King of Atlantis premieres Oct. 14 on HBO Max.

Dexter: New Blood

Eight years after first wrapping its eight-season run, Dexter is coming back to hunt a new set of victims with his signature lethal efficiency. The latest trailer for the revival miniseries has Dexter Morgan receive a new Dark Passenger in the form of his deceased sister Debra while reuniting with his estranged son Harrison as reports surface of a serial killer preying on children.

Dexter: New Blood premieres Nov. 7 on Showtime.

Don't Look Up

After previously exploring serious real-world topics with a comedically self-aware flair in The Big Short and Vice, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Adam McKay is leaning into science fiction for his next film, Don't Look Up. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as two astronomers, the scientists attempt to warn the world that a catastrophic collision with an incoming comet is imminent.

Written and directed by Adam McKay, Don't Look Up will have a limited theatrical release beginning Dec. 10 before being released on Netflix Dec. 24.

86: Eighty-Six

The second season of 86: Eighty-Six, adapting Asato Asato and Shirabii's light novel series of the same name, is coming next month. Focusing on a much more hardened Lena than audiences saw in Season 1, the war between the Republic of San Magnolia and the Giad Empire continues to escalate as the two factions' robotic legions wreck massive casualties on both sides.

Directed by Toshimasa Ishii, 86: Eighty-Six Season 2 premieres in Japan on Oct. 2, with a simulcast by Crunchyroll.

Fear the Walking Dead

The stakes in Fear the Walking Dead have been propelled to explosive new heights, following the detonation of nuclear warheads in the Season 6 finale. The latest trailer for Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 literally takes place in the immediate fallout from this nuclear fire. And even in such a toxic, fiery environment, old vendettas and, of course, plenty of walkers continue to survive.

Created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 17 on AMC.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045

The first season of the visually stunning CG anime series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is being adapted and re-edited into a compilation film this November. Combining the season's twelve episodes into a single feature film, a trailer delves into a futuristic world gripped in war without end as a group of cybernetic mercenaries tackle crises around the globe.

Directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 1 compilation film premieres Nov. 12 on Netflix.

God of War: Ragnarok

Following the acclaimed 2018 video game God of War, which brought the god hunter Kratos and his son Atreus to Scandinavia to face the Norse pantheon of deities, the saga continues in God of War: Ragnarok. A gameplay trailer teases the unflinching, hard-hitting combat as Kratos and Atreus scramble to stop the mythical end of the world, putting them in direct conflict with Asgard.

Developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, God of War: Ragnarok will be released in 2022 for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Injustice

One of the most popular DC video games of all time is 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us, with the fighting game spawning its own wave of comic books and merchandising. Following this enormous success, Injustice is getting its own animated adaptation, a new movie showcasing a world where Superman breaks bad after the Joker murders Lois Lane.

Directed by Matt Peters, Injustice will be released Oct. 19 for digital HD and Blu-ray/4K UHD.

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales

The scary side of that galaxy far, far away is explored in the latest LEGO Star Wars animated special LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales just in time for Halloween. Set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 find themselves in for a haunted experience after being forced to make an emergency landing on the planet Mustafar and shelter in Darth Vader's old castle.

Directed by Ken Cunningham, LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales premieres Oct. 1 on Disney+.

The Many Saints of Newark

The childhood and rise of Tony Soprano are set to unfold in the upcoming prequel film The Many Saints of Newark. Co-written and produced by The Sopranos creator David Chase, the latest trailer showcases more of Tony's teenage years, growing up in northern New Jersey during the turbulent 1960s as he quickly falls into his family business leanings towards organized crime.

Directed by Alan Taylor, The Many Saints of Newark premieres Oct. 1 in theaters and HBO Max.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Following the widely acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man and its 2020 follow-up Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sony announced a full sequel to both titles with Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Showcasing Peter Parker and Miles Morales teaming up as their web-slinging alter egos to dispatch a group of criminals, the trailer teased the arrival of Kraven the Hunter and Venom to pursue the two wallcrawlers.

Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023 for the PlayStation 5.

Marvel's Wolverine

In addition to being hard at work on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games confirmed it is also developing a video game based on another Marvel superhero: Wolverine. While no gameplay footage or release window was confirmed, the announcement trailer featured a cinematic of the gruff X-Man prepared to dispatch one last opponent after a bloody bar brawl.

Developed by Insomniac Games, Marvel's Wolverine will be released for PlayStation 5. No other details, including the release date, have currently been announced.

The Matrix Resurrections

The first theatrical trailer for The Matrix Revolutions is finally here and it is a doozy. An older Neo is back to his apparent civilian life as Thomas Anderson, though he can't help but feel that something is not quite right with reality. He's then drawn back into the epic conflict between humans and sentient programs in a digital facsimile of the real world as he meets with what appears to be a reborn Morpheus.

Directed, produced and co-written by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections premieres Dec. 22 in theaters and on HBO Max.

The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window

Based on Tomoko Yamashita's manga series of the same name, the upcoming anime series The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window premieres next month, with a subtitled simulcast planned for Crunchyroll. The series follows an unassuming bookstore clerk who can see ghosts as he teams up with a local exorcist to investigate a supernatural mystery involving a local high school.

Directed by Daiji Iwanga, The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window premieres in Japan on Oct. 3 and will be simulcast by Crunchyroll.

Pokémon: Secrets of the Jungle

The latest Pokémon anime film, Pokémon: Secrets of the Jungle, is set to get a dubbed, North American release on Netflix next month as Ash Ketchum and his friends encounter talking Pokémon while exploring the Forest of Okoya. Ash discovers the Mythical Pokémon Zarude, leading to an epic adventure as he moves to defend the jungle from destruction.

Directed and Tetsuo Yajima, Pokémon: Secrets of the Jungle premieres Oct. 8 on Netflix.

Ranking of Kings

Sōsuke Tōka's popular comedy manga series Ranking of Kings is being adapted into an anime series next month by Wit Studio. Following the story of Prince Bojji, a royal in line for the throne who has lost his sense of hearing, the aspiring regent travels the kingdom to build up his skills and prove himself worthy of becoming a king.

Directed by Yousuke Hatta, Ranking of Kings premieres on Oct. 15, with North American streaming licensed to Funimation.

Shin Megami Tensei V

The latest installment of the popular roleplaying game series Shin Megami Tensei continues exclusively on the Nintendo Switch this November with Shin Megami Tensei V. The latest trailer highlights the gameplay features coming for protagonist Nahobino, a being of light and darkness formed to combat the army of demons menacing humanity.

Developed and published by Atlus, Shin Megami Tensei V will be released Nov. 11 for the Nintendo Switch.

Stargirl

If Stargirl ever had a nemesis, it was her teenage rival and all-around mean girl Shiv. The sneering supervillain returns as Stargirl Season 2 continues, ready to make Courtney Whitmore's life a living hell. As Shiv announces her return, she taunts Courtney that she will come for her friends and family before moving to settle the score with Stargirl personally.

Star Trek: Lower Decks

While Star Trek: Lower Decks has always provided a more offbeat, comedic look at the more bizarre elements of the Star Trek Universe, things are poised to get even wackier in the back half of Season 2. The midseason trailer teases the U.S.S. Cerritos taking on the Borg Collective while D'Vana Tendi transforms into a scorpion as the crew boldly goes where other starships have gone previously.

Star Trek: Picard

The latest trailer for Star Trek: Picard has provided fans with their biggest glimpse yet of Season 2, teasing a time-travel adventure for Jean-Luc Picard and his friends. After Q's return to continue to judge humanity's worth, the omnipotent being tampers with history, forcing Picard and the others to travel back to the 21st century to restore the timeline before the cataclysmic changes become permanent.

Star Trek: Prodigy

The Star Trek Universe gets bigger next month with the premiere of the franchise's latest animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy. A new trailer showcases a motley crew of misfits as they make off with a Starfleet vessel to explore the cosmos, with a holographic program of Admiral Kathryn Janeway providing the makeshift team guidance as they delve into the unknown.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake

The rumors are true. Following months of reports, an enhanced remake of the universally acclaimed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been officially confirmed as in development for the PS5. While details are still under wraps about the remake, the game will be a timed exclusive, with the RPG set millennia before the prequel trilogy and rebuilt from the ground up.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

The second and final season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond premieres next month, with the Civic Republic Military threatening to plunge the post-apocalyptic world into a new war. In an exclusive trailer for Season 2, the villainous Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Kublek is seen watching the world fall into chaos as the paramilitary force menaces the survivors.

The Way of the Househusband

The second part of the anime adaptation of The Way of the Househusband, based on the manga series of the same name by Kousuke Oono, premieres on Netflix next month. It follows the story of Tatsu, a former Yakuza enforcer who was legendary in the criminal underworld, as he attempts to retire to take care of his wife Miku while constantly being reminded of his illicit past.

Directed by Chiaki Kon, The Way of the Househusband Part 2 premieres Oct. 7 on Netflix.
