The biggest video game showcase of the year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), has unfolded this past week, heralding the biggest game industry announcements in the months to come. And as biggest and best news comes for upcoming video games, blockbuster movie season and summer television is officially in full swing, buoyed by streaming services like Amazon Prime VideoHBO Max and Paramount+ teasing new, original programming.

Aquatope of White Sand

Anime studio P.A. Works' latest series Aquatope of White Sand has provided a new trailer, offering audiences a sneak peek at the upcoming slice-of-life anime. The series follows a pop idol named Fuka Miyazawa, who escapes the pressures of celebrity life in Tokyo to travel to rural Okinawa. Befriending a local woman, Fuka decides to help save an aquarium from being shut down due to financial issues.

Directed by Toshiya Shinohara, Aquatope of White Sand premieres in Japan on July 8.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

As James Cameron prepares to roll out a whole line of Avatar sequels, a new video game adaptation is set to launch next year. Titled Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the game is set on a previously unexplored region on the faraway planet, as the Na'vi ward off yet another attempt by humanity to seize Pandora's natural resources.

Developed by Massive Entertainment AB and published by Ubisoft, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to be released in 2022 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna.

Black Widow

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to begin in earnest on the big screen next month with Black Widow. A new promo for the upcoming film puts the focus on Natasha Romanoff's family, showcasing each of them in action as the quartet of superheroes confronts Taskmaster in an explosive showdown.

Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. The film arrives in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access July 9.

Central Park

The acclaimed Apple TV+ original animated series Central Park returns for its second season next week, continuing the Tillerman family's trials and tribulations while caretaking the world's most famous public park. As the Tillerman children grow up and balance their social lives with the responsibilities that come with protecting the park from developers, the family grows closer together.

Central Park is written and executive produced by Loren Bouchard, Josh Gad and Nora Smith, with Halsted Sullivan, Sanjay Shah and Janelle Momary-Neely as additional executive producers. The show stars Emmy Raver-Lampman, Tituss Burgess, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr. and Stanley Tucci. Season 2 will premiere on June 25, 2021.

Guilty Gear Strive

The latest installment of the popular fighting game series Guilty Gear is officially here, with Arc System Works unveiling a launch trailer for Guilty Gear Strive. Showcasing the eclectic cast in action, the madcap energy and lightning-fast battles that have defined the franchise are back in full force as the supernatural characters duke it out once more.

Guilty Gear Strive is developed and published by Arc System Works and is available for PC, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. An arcade release by Sega is planned but does not currently have a release date.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Two years since the official announcement that a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was in development, Nintendo has provided a sneak peek at the gameplay for the sequel in a new trailer unveiled at E3. As a new threat is poised to plunge Hyrule right back into a time of great calamity, Link has gained new abilities, including the capacity to soar above the fantasy kingdom, in the next Legend of Zelda title.

Developed by Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel launches in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

Legends of Tomorrow

Legends of Tomorrow is poised to take its wackiest, time-bending adventure yet as Season 6 will take the superhero team back to the events of the Season 5 finale in order to change history. Intent on preventing Sara Lance from being abducted by aliens, Behrad leads the crew of the Waverider to the punk rock finale, despite the considerable risk to the space-time continuum his strategy poses.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez and Raffi Barsoumian. Season 6 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Marvel's Avengers

The latest DLC expansion to Marvel's Avengers takes the video game to Wakanda while finally adding Black Panther to the roster. A trailer for the expansion reveals T'Challa taking point when he discovers Ulysses Klaue is plotting to steal his nation's vast supply of vibranium. With the Dora Milaje and Shuri appearing in the trailer, the expansion is poised to bring players to the heart of Wakanda as the battle for the African nation begins in earnest.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia. The War for Wakanda expansion is slated to launch this August.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Square Enix continues its partnership with Marvel with an upcoming video game exploring the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Providing a single-player gameplay experience, the video game has players take control of Star-Lord as he leads his spacefaring team to confront Lady Hellbender and the Blood Brothers while navigating the tricky interpersonal dynamics among his companions.

Developed by Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will release Oct. 26, 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Metroid Dread

It's been four years since Nintendo released a brand-new Metroid game and, with the sci-fi franchise celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Nintendo officially announced a new game will be released this October. Titled Metroid Dread, the game serves as a direct sequel to 2002's Metroid Fusion, closing out the ongoing saga of interstellar bounty hunter Samus Aran and her conflict against the Metroids.

Developed by Mercurysteam and Nintendo, Metroid Dread will be released for the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 8.

The Patrick Star Show

Spongebob Squarepants' best friend Patrick Star is getting his own spinoff animated series in the aptly titled The Patrick Star Show, premiering on Nickelodeon next month. Set shortly before the events of Spongebob Squarepants, the origins of the goofy starfish are revealed along with his equally silly family as Patrick launches his own talk show.

The Patrick Star Show stars Bill Fagerbakke, Tom Wilson, Cree Summer, Jill Talley, Dana Snyder, Tom Kenny, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown and Mr. Lawrence. The series premieres Friday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

Peach Boy Riverside

Coolkyousinnjya's manga series Peach Boy Riverside is getting its own television anime adaptation next month, with the new trailer teasing the action-packed series. Following a princess named Salterine Aldarake, the young royal leaves a city to see the outside world for herself, only to discover it full of monsters. Fortunately, the Japanese folk hero Momotaro comes to her aid to keep Salterine safe.

Based on the manga series created by Coolkyousinnjya, Peach Boy Riverside is directed by Shigeru Ueda. The anime series premieres in Japan on July 1.

Starfield

Following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda Softworks earlier this year, the first major Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive title from the studio has formally been announced with Starfield. As humanity traverses the cosmos in a spaceship known as the Constellation, they encounter all the wonders and perils from the unknown regions of space.

Developed by Bethesda Softworks, Starfield will be released Nov. 11, 2022 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Stargirl

The superhero world of Stargirl is about to get even bigger with its second season as a trailer for the upcoming season officially brings Green Lantern's daughter Jade and the electric superhero Thunderbolt into the mix. As Courtney Whitmore continues to lead the newly reformed Justice Society of America against the villainous Injustice Society, new faces could either be friends or foes for the teenage heroes.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Joel McHale, Trae Romano, Yvette Monreal, Amy Smart, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Joy Osmanski, Christopher James Baker, Neil Jackson, Nelson Lee, Neil Hopkins, Jonathan Cake, Alkoya Brunson, Nick Tarabay, Ysa Penarejo and Jim Gaffigan. Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Star Trek: Picard

Paramount+ has unveiled the first official trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 2, bringing the venerable Starfleet admiral back to his family vineyard in France. As Picard confronts the omnipotent Q once again, it becomes clear that the other major characters in the series are each living strange, divergent lives than the ones they led in Season 1.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. Season 2 will premiere in 2022.

Teen Titans Go! See Space Jam

While picking apart DC superhero movies and confronting their previous animated counterparts, Teen Titans Go! is returning to the movies for another crossover, this time with the classic 1996 film Space Jam. Debuting just in time for Space Jam: A New Legacy, the movie has the irreverent teenage superheroes critique the sports movie that saw Michael Jordan team up with the Looney Tunes to save the day with basketball.

Teen Titans Go! See Space Jam premieres Sunday, June 20 at 6 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network ahead of its digital release from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on July 27.

Titans

Titans Season 3 is taking the action to Gotham City and weaving in plenty of familiar faces for DC Comics fans. A teaser trailer has Dick Grayson warn his teammates of the murderous stakes that come with operating in Gotham as Jason Todd is seen investigating a crime scene linked to the Joker before the Red Hood officially debuts.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters, Conor Leslie, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, Joshua Orpin, Vincent Kartheiser, Damaris Lewis, Savannah Welch and Jay Lycurgo. Season 3 premieres Aug. 12 on HBO Max.

Tom and Jerry in New York

After releasing a major theatrical film this past February, the classic animated duo Tom and Jerry are storming the Big Apple in the new HBO Max animated series Tom and Jerry in New York. While Tom now resides in a luxury hotel in Manhattan, his mousy frenemy has joined him, resulting in comedic confrontations everywhere from the museum to department stores.

Tom and Jerry in New York premieres Thursday, July 1 on HBO Max.

The Tomorrow War

Amazon Prime Video's next blockbuster original movie The Tomorrow War features a devastating war that spans across time and space. Unassuming family man Dan Forrester is recruited by soldiers from the near future to join them in the fight against invading extraterrestrials, seeking to rewrite future history by lending crucial support to the war effort.

Directed by Chris McKay, The Tomorrow War stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, J.K. Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub. The film arrives on Amazon Prime Video July 2.
