While summer may be coming to a close, August 2020 wrapped its last full week with massive influx of new trailers and promos for movies, television shows and video games. Batman: Three Jokers

In development since the start of DC Rebirth in 2016, the long-awaited DC Black Label miniseries Batman: Three Jokers by Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok has finally launched. A motion comic trailer released by DC has Batman, Batgirl and Red Hood each revisiting their traumatic history with the Clown Prince of Crime as the Bat Family investigates the shocking discovery that there are actually three different version of the villain active in Gotham City.

Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Jason Fabok, Batman: Three Jokers #1 is on sale now from DC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The shadowy side of America's 20th century history comes into focus in the upcoming first-person shooter title Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the latest installment in the line of games highlighting morally questionable missions committed by the military durings its conflict with the Soviet Union. After a flashback to the Vietnam War, the action fast-forwards to the '80s as the Cold War explosively heats up under the Reagan Administration.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is scheduled for worldwide release Friday, Nov. 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with versions planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Cobra Kai

After running for two seasons on YouTube, the acclaimed Karate Kid continuation series Cobra Kai has officially arrived on Netflix. A trailer recapping the lifelong rivalry between martial arts students Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the 1984 original film shows the two starting their own dojos to train a new generation of martial artists, who quickly strike up their own feud. The trailer concludes with a first look at next year's third season, as Daniel finds himself confronting a mysterious opponent and shocking secrets from his mentor Mister Miyagi's past.

Starring William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan and Martin Kove, the first two seasons of Cobra Kai are now available on Netflix. Season 3 arrives in 2021.

Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues

It is an especially great time to be a Karate Kid fan, as the popular revival series will receive a video game adaptation: Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues. In the style of a classic side-scrolling beat'em-up, the upcoming game lets players choose from eight different fighters from the television series, each with their own signature attacks that level up as they progress. Gamers can play alone or in couch co-op ti beat both the Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do campaigns to unlock the game's true ending.

Published by GameMill Entertainment, Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on Oct. 27.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light

This November sees the release of the fifth major expansion for the popular online first-person shooter Destiny 2, subtitled Beyond Light. A Gamescom preview for the title showcased the three new stasis subclasses being added to the game: Shadebinders, Revenants and Behemoths. Taking place primarily on Jupiter's frozen moon Europa, the new subclasses unveil their incredible new abilities, with the expansion set to be the first iteration of the game developed for the next generation of home consoles.

Developed by Bungie, Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on Nov. 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, with releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal has continued the landmark first-person shooter franchise's unabashed gory gameplay. The story mode receives its first major DLC expansion this October in "The Ancient Gods, Part One," which follows the Doom Slayer as he ventures to the alternate dimension of Urdak following an invasion by nightmarish demons during the main game. The gameplay trailer for the expansion doesn't pull its punches, as the Doom Slayer is seen viscerally cutting through armies of his enemies before finding himself face-to-face with a towering behemoth.

Developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, Doom Eternal is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. "The Ancient Gods, Part One" will be released on Oct. 20.

Dragon's Dogma

The 2012 Capcom video game Dragon's Dogma will receive an anime adaptation on Netflix next month.  Following a young man named Ethan who sets out to hunt down the dragon that destroyed village, including his wife and unborn child, the anime series features a blend of CG and traditional 2D animation, as Ethan's quest for vengeance runs the risk of consuming him as seeks to destroy the monster that completely ruined his life.

Directed and produced by Shin'ya Sugai, Dragon's Dogma will be available to stream on Netflix starting Sept. 17.

Enola Holmes

Millie Bobby Brown stars as a very different kind of child prodigy in the upcoming Netflix original movie Enola Holmes. Adapting the novel series by Nancy Springer, Enola is the younger sister of the iconic detective Sherlock and their more traditional brother, Mycroft. She's every inch as hyper-intelligent as her brothers. After the mysterious disappearance of their mother, Enola rebels against Mycroft's wishes to have her remanded to a finishing school, instead becoming her own master detective as she utilizes her mother's training to take cases throughout Victorian London.

Directed by Fleabag's Harry Bradbeer, Enola Holmes stars Millie Bobby Brown, Sam Claflin, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, Susan Wokoma, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter. The film arrives on Netflix Sept. 23.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

This month, the popular online platforming game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout took world by storm. In the game, players guide cute avatars through a series of minigames and obstacle courses with the goal of being crowned champion. The game will receive a new season of DLC this October, adding medieval-themed costumes and emotes to the game, with a sneak peek showing new fantasy-inspired challenges to keep players coming back for more.

Developed by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC. Season 2 will be released this October.

Fortnite

After a series of teasers, the Marvel superheroes are officially coming to the world of Fortnite in the latest DLC update "Nexus War." A new trailer shows Thor summoning his fellow heroes to the familiar online shooter's battlefield as they team up with the fan-favorite characters from the enormously popular video game. As the two groups put aside their differences from the start of the impromptu meeting, they prepare for the arrival of a cosmically upgraded Galactus flying directly towards them.

Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows. The Chapter 2, Season 4 update is available now.

His Dark Materials

HBO's acclaimed adaptation of Philip Pullman's fantasy novel trilogy His Dark Materials returns for its second season this November. A new teaser trailer has James McAvoy's Lord Asriel open a gateway to another world, while Lyra follows him into the unknown to reunite with her friend Will. As she encounters more fantastical creatures and sights, Lyra learns she and Will are at the center of an insidious plot involving mass abductions to determine the fate of multiple worlds.

Returning on HBO in November, His Dark Materials stars Dafne Keen as Lyra, Ruth Wilson as Marisa Coulter, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby and Andrew Scott as John Parry.

Jump Force: Deluxe Edition

Worlds collide in the popular crossover fighting game Jump Force, with a deluxe edition of the brawler now available on the Nintendo Switch. As part of publisher Bandai Namco's presentation at Gamescom, a new trailer showcased everyone from Dragon Ball's Goku to Naruto duking it out in fast-paced, 3v3 tag-team battles. The deluxe edition includes the DLC from the fighting game's first season, bringing its expansive roster to the Nintendo home console.

Jump Force is produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment and Spike Chunsoft and is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

While LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been pushed back by several months, developer Traveller's Tales unveiled a new gameplay trailer highlights key moments from the iconic film series' nine main installments, lovingly rendered in CG LEGO form. From fast-paced podraces and pitched pace battles to epic lightsaber duels and precarious platforming, the upcoming video game will put players right in the heart of the space opera franchise's biggest scenes all in family-friendly LEGO gameplay.

Developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC in spring 2021.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Gamers are about to be immersed in a very unique perspective on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy The Lord of Rings. A teaser trailer for next year's The Lord of the Rings: Gollum shows the eponymous character emerging from the safety of his cave to search for the One Ring, spotting Mount Doom on the horizon. Developer Daedalic Entertainment revealed the story is set before the events of Tolkien's trilogy of novels and features a new design for Gollum rather than the one popularized in Peter Jackson's cinematic adaptations.

Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC in 2021.

Mafia: Definitive Edition

The enhanced remake of the open-world crime game Mafia is coming next month, bringing players back to the dark, gritty world of the 2002 video game. The trailer has aspiring gangster Tommy Angelo join the Salieri crime syndicate and rise through the ranks to become a made man. As Tommy learns the value of loyalty among the mobsters, he undertakes increasingly more daring assignments, from gangland assassinations to thrilling car chases through the 1930s fictional city of Lost Heaven.

Mafia: Definitive Edition is developed by Hangar 13 and published 2K Game. It is slated for a Sept. 25 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.

Making The Witcher

While The Witcher Season 2 has only just resumed filming in Europe due to the global health crisis, fans can help tide over the wait with Making The Witcher, an extensive documentary film about Netflix and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich's efforts to adapt the dark fantasy franchise for television. Providing a full behind-the-scenes look at production on Season 1, complete with interviews with the cast and crew, everything from the writing to star Henry Cavill's ambitious training regimen is showcased in the documentary.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.

Marvel's Avengers

After months of hype, Square Enix's ambitious reimagining of the Marvel Universe in Marvel's Avengers is poised to release on home consoles worldwide. A launch trailer has Iron Man haunted by a disastrous mission before recruiting a new generation of superheroes to face the villainous M.O.D.O.K. and his army of heavily armed goons and supervillains. A cinematic promo has Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble to face M.O.D.O.K.'s forces in the streets of New York, showcasing each of the Avengers in action.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC on Sept. 4.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond

The Medal of Honor franchise plunges into the heart of World War II in the new VR experience Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. An immersive gameplay trailer has players control an Allied soldier behind enemy lines in war-torn France, teaming up with the local resistance to carry out a series of missions against the Third Reich, in everything from tank battles, aerial dogfights and alpine gunfights to liberate Europe from the Axis Powers.

Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is scheduled for a holiday 2020 release on the Oculus Rift platform.

Noughts + Crosses

After its launch this summer, NBCUniversal's premium streaming service Peacock continues to roll out its line of original programming, including Noughts + Crosses, based on the novel by Malorie Blackman. Initially airing on BBC earlier this year, the alternative history series imagines a world where Africa colonized Europe instead of the other way around, inverting racial disparities and prejudices as it follows a forbidden romance between a low-class Caucasian man and one of the Afro-European ruling class.

Based on the novel of the same name by Malorie Blackman, Noughts + Crosses stars Jack Rowan, Masali Baduza, Jonathan Ajayi, Helen Baxendale, Paterson Joseph, Josh Dylan, Shaun Dingwall, Jonathan Ajayi, Kike Brimah, Rakie Ayola, Bonnie Mbuli and Ian Hart. The series premieres on Peacock on Sept. 4.

Power Rangers: Beast Morphers

The latest Power Rangers television series, Power Rangers: Beast Morphers returns for its second season next month, with a new trailer showing the sentai warriors back in action. The trailer has the Power Rangers take on both new and old enemies while teasing an epic team-up with Rangers from previous series in the long-running franchise. Back in the saddle again, Beast Morphers Season 2 will push the television franchise to ambitious, new heights, blending new and old as it celebrates nearly 30 years of morphin' action.

Raised by Wolves

One of the biggest original series coming to HBO Max is Raised by Wolves, an ambitious science fiction series executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott. Following two androids tasked with raising a colony of human children on a faraway planet, the synthetic beings' grasp on human nature puts them on a collision course with their maturing charges, as the robots enter a conflict with the very beings they were programmed to protect.

Produced by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions with Scott, writer and creator Aaron Guzikowski, David W. Zucker (The Man in the High Castle), Jordan Sheehan (The Terror), Adam Kolbrenner (Prisoners) and Mark Huffam (The Martian) serving as executive producers, Raised by Wolves stars Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong and Travis Fimmel. The series premieres Sept. 3. on HBO Max.

The Sims 4

The customizable world of The Sims 4 and the iconic Star Wars franchise collide in new expansion "Star Wars: Journey to Batuu," slated for release next month. The expansion adds, as the title suggests, Batuu, a planet based off of the Galaxy's Edge attraction at Disney theme parks. This location allows players to mix it up with their favorite Star Wars characters while building their own customizable droids and lightsabers inspired by their time in that galaxy far, far away.

Published by Electronic Arts, The Sims 4 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The "Star Wars: Journey to Batuu" expansion will release on Sept. 8.

Supernatural

After coming to a premature halt this past March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Supernatural has resumed production on its final episodes. A new trailer heralding the series' return for its final seven episodes this October goes back to the monster-hunting beginning for brothers Sam and Dean Winchester through a series of flashbacks as the Winchesters and Castiel prepare for their epic showdown with God.

Airing on The CW, the final season of Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert. The series returns with new episodes on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Swamp Thing

While Swamp Thing may have only run for a single season on DC Universe before its cancellation last year, the DCTV horror series is coming to The CW in time for Halloween. A trailer unveiled by the network heralding the series' arrival has forensic scientist Abby Arcane return to her hometown of Marais, Louisiana, only to discover there are supernatural horrors festering in the surrounding bayou as her friend Alec Holland finds himself reborn as the eponymous, plant-based monster.

Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott and Kevin Durand. The entire series is currently available to stream on the DC Universe service and premieres on The CW on Oct. 6.

Tenet

With movie theaters tentatively reopening around the world, one of the biggest new releases coming to cinemas is award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan's next mind-bending epic, Tenet. Already open in many overseas territories, the action film stars John David Washington as an elite operative who undertakes a mission to prevent World War III. Early reviews for the film have been positive, praising the movie as the latest showcase for Nolan's meticulously ambitious science fiction action sensibilities.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Dimple Kapadia, Martin Donovan, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Himesh Patel, Clémence Poésy, Denzil Smith and Michael Caine. The film opens in theaters overseas on Aug. 26. and arrives in select U.S. cities Sept. 3. Early access screenings will be held at IMAX theaters starting Aug. 31.

Tremors: Shrieker Island

For 30 years, the Tremors franchise has thrilled fans as its characters have battled against evolving types of subterranean monsters, largely dwelling in the American Southwest. The film series' seventh installment takes the hunt tropical in Tremors: Shrieker Island, coming to home video in time for Halloween. When a wealthy tycoon transports the monsters to a remote island to hunt for sport, the hunters quickly find themselves becoming the hunted when the monsters go out of control. However,  longtime character Burt Gummer will be returning to save them.

Directed and co-written by Don Michael Paul, Tremors: Shrieker Island stars Michael Gross, Jon Heder, Jackie Cruz, Richard Brake and Caroline Langrishe. The film will be released on digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 20.

Wynonna Earp

Wynonna Earp wraps the first half of its fourth season this week. With the midpoint on the horizon, Clanton family's vendetta against the Earps and Doc Holliday escalates, with their historical feud already causing heartbreaking casualties. Syfy has unveiled a promo for the midseason finale and a sneak peek at the second half of Season 4, set to premiere sometime next year. As Wynonna faces new, demonic threats, Doc must face the consequences of the dark deal he made at the beginning of the season with Purgatory's monstrous denizens.

Produced by SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment, Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano as the title character, Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Waverly, Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught and Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday. Season 4 airs on Sundays at 10pm ET/PT on Syfy, with the second half of the season to premiere in 2021.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Sega's popular beat'em-up franchise Yakuza changes up the usual gameplay formula for its upcoming eighth installment Yakuza; Like a Dragon. Instead of the usual third-person, real-time action, the new video game has players engage in turn-based combat while choosing between several eclectic character classes as they advance through the Japanese criminal underworld. A new trailer for the game showcases the different character classes players can select, from professional breakdancers to chefs.

Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega, Yakuza: Like a Dragon arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 13.The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 release dates have yet to be announced.
