Trading 'Raptors For TIE Fighters,' Kennedy Leaves <i>Jurassic Park 4</i>

Jurassic Park 4 might still be happening, but it's going to have to move forward without Kathleen Kennedy. The longtime Jurassic Park producer has had to trade in her dinosaur commitments for the sake of the greater good, also known as the new Star Wars sequels.

A fan asked Marshall's husband Frank Marshall on Twitter whether his wife would still be working on Jurassic Park 4 now that she's become president of Lucasfilm, and he confirmed she has officially jumped ship. "Ms. Kennedy has moved onto Star Wars and will not be producing JP4. She's traded raptors for TIE fighters," Frank tweeted.

Although this isn't much of a surprise, it is a shame. Kennedy has worked on all three Jurassic Park films, as well as many other Steven Spielberg projects. At least Spielberg and Frank Marshall are still reportedly attached to the movie, which is slated for a 2014 release date.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver wrote the Jurassic Park 4 script. In September, Kennedy assured fans, “We’re trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn’t going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise. We’ve got to start with a script and the story.”

Jurassic Park 4 is due out on June 13, 2014.
