This week, movies definitely scored more digital ink in the toy and statue market than comics. The new film, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" inspired more than one company to show off what they have in store, but long-standing franchises like "Star Trek", "Predator," "Alien" and "Ghostbusters" have cool new items on the way, too. There's also plenty of Marvel and DC news, plus a statue based on a prominent character from Robert Kirkman's "Invincible."

THE HOBBIT | As "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" savages the box office this weekend, Weta has plenty of collectibles for fans to snatch up and keep the Middle-Earth lovefest going. The collectible branch of the film's special effects company has a pair of dwarf statues for purchase: Dwalin and Balin. Dwalin stands nearly 10 inches tall while Balin measures in at 9.3. Since these pieces are actually made by the same people who worked on the trilogy's special effects, it's essentially the same thing as owning a piece of the film.

THE HOBBIT | Weta's not the only game in town when it comes to scary-accurate Hobbit collectibles. NECA presents a quarter scale, 12-inch tall action figure based on Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins for sale in late April. The piece features 20 points of articulation, traveling duds and his trusty sword Sting.

DC COLLECTIBLES | DC Collectibles has a variety of statues and figures in line for the spring. April sees the release of a Gentle Giant-sculpted statue of Stephen Amell as the Hood from The CW's "Arrow" as well as a Superman statue based on Lee Bermejo's artwork. Then, in May, you'll be able to pic up a 10-inch tall Joker statue based on "Batman: Arkham City" and an action figure of all new Green Lantern Simon Baz.

INVINCIBLE | Diamond Select Toys continues adding to their multi-source Femme Fatale line. This time, Atom Eve from Robert Kirkman's "Invincible" is getting the 9-inch PVC statue treatment. The piece will fly into stores thanks to Eve's patented energy effect in the summer of next year.

MARVEL POP! VINYL | Funko's adorable Pop! Vinyl bobbleheads have covered everything from "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Wall*E" to Disney and Marvel Comics. The second wave of Marvel Pop! Vinyls were just announced and include Dr. Doom, Ghost Rider, Deadpool, Dark Phoenix, Beast and Silver Surfer. (via Marvelous News)

STAR TREK | With the first "Star Trek Into Darkness" trailer out, there's a lot of buzz surrounding Gene Roddenberry's greatest creation. Diamond Select Toys has a few pieces for the Trekker looking to drop some bank on collectibles. First up, in January you'll be able to buy your own Electronic Enterprise NCC-1701-D again, as seen on Facebook. They also showed off the paint master for the Minimate version of the Enterprise on their Facebook page, including shots of the accessible Captain's chair!

PREDATOR | NECA has made a lot of good Predators over 8 series' of figures, but now they're getting a human figure in the group. Of course, it's Dutch as played by Arnold Scwarzenegger in the original Predator film. You'll have your choice between Jungle Extraction Dutch and the tank topped Jungle Patrol Dutch. Both figures come with pistols, knives and other weaponry to face off against those fanged aliens.

MATTYCOLLECTOR | Mattel's collector-oriented website offers up their figures every month on or around the 15th. This month the on-sale date falls on the 17th and includes Granamyr and Mosquitor from the Masters of the Universe Classics line, Metal Men Lead & a Platinum-and-Tin 2-pack from DC Universe and a JLU 3-pack made up of Firefly, Dr. Destiny and Toyman as seen on the beloved Cartoon Network series of the same name.

GHOSTBUSTERS | One of the best parts about walking around New York City is spotting places they shot "Ghostbusters." But, if you can't make it to the east coast or want to keep a part of the film for yourself, Diamond Select Toys has something pretty special for you: a Ghostbusters Firehouse mini-statue. The 7-inch tall piece sits on a Ghostbusters logo base and lights up with just a pair of AAA batteries. You can pre-order the limited-to-1984 piece statue today.

DOCTOR WHO | Character Building has these awesome little Doctor Who figures that look sort of like of a cross between Minimates and Lego Minifigures. The tiny toys come in blind-bagged 3-packs that might include some super rare figures. Cat-suited River Song and Nurse Rory are limited to 250 pieces, 100 of tally marked Amy & the Doctor in his space suit and 500 of tuxedoed Doctor. (via Doctor Who news)

CONAN THE BARBARIAN | Sideshow Collectibles and ARH Statues have teamed up to bring Conan the Barbarian to life in statue form. The 19-inch tall polystone piece features Robert E. Howard's legendary Cimmerian standing triumphantly with sword and skull trophies. If you purchase the Sideshow exclusive version, you'll get an additional left hand with an axe that you can swap out for double the bladed danger. The figure ships in January.

ALIEN| Followers of NECA on Twitter have been getting all kinds of "Aliens" behind-the-scenes toy shots recently. The company has shown off various pictures of both Hicks and Hudson figures -- played by Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton respectively -- in various states of completion. They also revealed an Alien Warrior figure and explained that Sigourney Weaver is not currently granting licensing rights for a Ripley figure to be made.

PROMETHEUS | While on the subject of Xenomorphs, NECA also has more figures based on the "Alien" prequel "Prometheus" in the works. We've seen a few of these like the image of Deacon from a few weeks back, but not the new figure based on Michael Fassbender's David 8. Both David and Deacon will be out in February.

CUSTOMCON | A few times a year various toy sites hold CustomCon, a weeklong event that allows toy customizers to show off the lines they've developed and created themselves. The 33rd installment included custom series' based on "Kamandi," "Assassin's Creed" and plenty of Marvel and DC comics. Check out The Fwoosh and Action Figure Pics for all the figures.

POWER-CON | Fans of animation and action figures, take note, Power-Con is expanding its focus. The convention for fans of "He-Man," "She-Ra" and "Thundercats" has now added the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" to the roster of properties covered at the Torrance, California Marriott South Bay-held con. Next year's show is set for September 14th and 15th, so keep your eyes on the official Power-Con site for up to date guest and programming details. (via Toynewsi)
