Refreshed after a week off, TOYING AROUND is back in action with a look at all kinds of great collectible news. Marvel fans have Kotobukiya statues, MiniMates and Hot Toys lookalikes to drool over, but there's also something for DC fans, "Walking Dead" zombies, video game junkies and lots more!

WALKING DEAD | "Walking Dead" might be taking over for the George Romero zombie movies when it comes to the most popular undead shamblers of all time. Fans can't seem to get enough of the comic, TV show or toys. Diamond Select Toys and Amazon.com have struck a deal to keep people into zombies and their killers by offering an exclusive 4-pack featuring angry Michonne, prison garb Rick and two new zombies, a Lurker and a Roamer. Look for them to go on sale in mid-December.

CAPTAIN AMERICA | Hot Toys did it again with another spot-on recreation of a beloved screen hero in action figure-form. This time, it's Captain America as played by Chris Evans, star of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "The Avengers." Cap comes with both his iconic shield, mask and a big ol' gun to blast bad guys like the Chitauri.

INJUSTICE | DC Collectibles is cashing in on a new video game with their "Injustice: Gods Among Us" figures. Sure, they've done figures based on video games before, but this time they're offering 2-packs in the 3 3/4-inch scale instead of the usual 6 or 7-inches. The first two 2-packs, which will be out in April consist of Deathstroke and Green Arrow as well as Wonder Woman and Solomon Grundy.

BACK TO THE FUTURE | There isn't a person alive who didn't watch "Back to the Future II" in 1989 and immediately long for the days of hoverbaords. We haven't quite hit the time of flying skateboards yet, but Mattel and their collector-oriented website Mattycollector have started selling replicas of the neon creations. The pieces can be ordered now on the site.

THE VENTURE BROS. | Bif Bang Pow's getting pretty deep into the "Venture Bros." roster of characters with the latest pair of 8-inch MEGO-style EMCE figures. You can now pre-order Shore Leave and The Alchemist which will both ship in September of next year.

MARVEL COMICS | Getting into any kind of collecting late in the game can be a daunting task. When it comes to Diamond Select Toys' Marvel MiniMates, they're already on the 50th wave after ten years of production. To help new fans out, though, DST has developed the Best Of line which offers classic, hard to find figures again. The second series will be out in the spring of 2013 and include the following 2-packs: Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom, Daredevil and Venom, the Punisher and Deadpool, and the Hulk and Loki. Added bonus: the Hulk figure actually transforms into Bruce Banner!

HALO LEGENDS | Back in 2010, several anime houses got together to jam on a Halo anthology called "Halo Legends." Now, thanks to McFarlane Toys, fans can get their hands on a 3-pack of 6-inch figures based on a segment called "The Package." Out in January, the set includes the Master Chief, Frederic-104 and Kelly-087.

MORTAL KOMBAT | Get over here! Scorpion's been saying that for decades in the Mortal Kombat games, but fans will be saying it to him when they feast their eyes on Pop Culture Shock's Mortal Kombat Klassic statue. The statue is limited to 350 pieces, stands 19 inches tall and comes out in the second quarter of 2013. You can order the normal version or the Sideshow Collectibles exclusive skull mask variant which is limited to just 200 pieces.

FRIDAY THE 13TH | Few characters in the history of horror have captured the imaginations and nightmares of fans like Jason Voorhees. As he continues to live on in films, the terror of Crystal Lake has also made his way to toy shelves in plenty of incarnations. NECA furthers their own line with two figures based on his appearance in "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter." One's regular, the other is battle damaged which means you can lodge a machete into his face. Both come with removable masks and weapons.

X-MEN | Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line of statues takes U.S. characters from comics and movies, gives them some manga and anime flavor and produces 1/7th scale statues based on those designs. The next installment in the series will be none other than X-fan favorite Kitty Pryde along with her pal Lockheed. They stand 8.5 inches tall and come out in June.

ROCKY | The world truly does not have enough Mr. T figures in it. NECA will remedy that with the third series of Rocky figures which just so happens to be based on "Rocky 3." Can you believe that film is 20 years old this year? Anyway, in addition to T's Clubber Lang, you will also, of course, be able to pick up Rocky as portrayed by Sylvester Stallone in the flick.

TEAM FORTRESS | As Team Fortress and its sequels continue to entertain video game lovers, so do NECA's figures based on the franchise's characters. January will see a new pair as shown off by the company: Demoman and Pyro. Each figure comes with plenty of accessories as well as a download code for new weapons in the game itself.
