In addition to bringing back the original voices for the much-loved toys who starred in the first three movies, Toy Story 4 will be adding a new character voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves. However, little was known about Reeves' role, aside from some remarks from co-star Tim Allen about the personality, and possibly the size, of the character.
But a new report from Observer may have revealed both the name of Reeves' character and a description of him. According to the report, "Sources tell us that Keanu Reeves, who joined the cast in November in a mystery role, is playing a character named Duke Kaboom, who hails from a place where discontinued toys are sent... Bo Peep [a doll who was romantically linked to Woody in the earlier movies, voiced by Annie Potts] seeks out his help in retrieving her sheep after they’ve been taken from her."
The description makes it seem like Duke Kaboom will be an action figure of some kind, which should allow for lighthearted nods at Reeves' history of playing tough guys and sci-fi heroes. Although it's possible this is not who Reeves will be playing, it does sound like a fitting role.
Directed by Josh Cooley, Toy Story 4 stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Keanu Reeves, Annie Potts, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jeff Pidgeon, Blake Clark, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Tony Hale. The film opens June 21, 2019.
