Toy Story 4: The Late Don Rickles Will Voice Mr. Potato Head

Though Mr. Potato Head actor Don Rickles passed away in 2017, his voice work will be featured in the upcoming Toy Story 4.

Comedian Don Rickles, who provided the voice work for Mr. Potato Head across the variousÂ Toy StoryÂ films and specials, passed away from complications of kidney failure in 2017. However, it appears Rickles will in fact be featured in the upcoming Toy Story 4.Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley revealed that Rickles is in the movie for one last appearance as Mr. Potato Head. It was initially unknown if the character would be retired, like Wheezy the penguin was after his voice actorÂ Joe RanftÂ passed away, or if the role would be recast, in the same way Blake Clark took over Slinky Dog after original voice actor Jim Varney died. However, it appears that Rickles did record enough of his dialogue for his Mr. Potato Head to appear in the film.

Directed by Josh Cooley, Toy Story 4 stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Keanu Reeves, Annie Potts, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jeff Pidgeon, Blake Clark, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Tony Hale. The film opens Jun. 21.
