For the first time in nine years, a new Toy Story film is being released. Toy Story 4 is just a few months away now, and while we don't know much about what to expect, we do have a vague idea of some of the familiar and new faces we'll be joining on their latest trouble making journey through the world of toys.

With nearly 25 years of history tied to them, the characters of the Toy Story universe are incredibly beloved and have fiercely protective fans of all age demographics. So, while there are a handful of toys we already know for sure will be in the film, there's also another handful of characters we desperately want to see. Hopefully, the film is able to deliver.

10 CONFIRMED: BUZZ

Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 4

"To infinity and beyond!", or, if the new Toy Story 4 teaser released following the Super Bowl is anything to go by, "to infinity and my foot!" Whatever this beloved space man's saying will be, we already know for sure that Buzz Lightyear will be returning for yet another adventure through life as a toy.

He's appeared in all promotional materials for the film so far. Voice actor Tim Allen also recently tweeted that he'd wrapped recording Buzz's lines in studio, noting that "it got emotional."

9 WANT TO SEE: BULLSEYE

Bullseye in Toy Story 2

Woody and Buzz may have become each other's partners in crime over the last nearly 25 years, but if there's any other character that Woody can depend on, it's his faithful stallion, Bullseye.

The adorably dimwitted horse has been by Woody's side ever since the two were reunited in Toy Story 2, but so far, the steed has been nowhere to be found in any of the teasers or posters that have been released. It wouldn't be right to have a new adventure without hearing at least one "ride like the wind, Bullseye!"

8 CONFIRMED: FORKY

Forky in Toy Story 4

One of the newcomers who's been heavily promoted for Toy Story 4 is Forky. Forky, voiced by comedian Tony Hale, is a spork who has been used as part of a craft project by Bonnie -- the toys' new owner -- and, as a result, has become a sort of toy.

Much of Forky's journey in the film is apparently going to be an existential crisis of sorts. In the first teaser, he anxiously screams that he doesn't belong here among the other toys we know and love; and in his character poster, he's seen comparing himself to regular forks and spoons.

7 WANT TO SEE: WHEEZY

Wheezy in Toy Story 2

The Toy Story franchise has always been a series about lovable underdogs and outsiders, and one of the most lovable of them all is undoubtedly Toy Story 2's Wheezy. A little penguin with a broken squeaker, Wheezy has been hidden away from the world collecting dust, until a new squeaker reveals that he has a beautiful singing voice and untapped talent.

However, after Toy Story 2, the smooth singing penguin was never heard from again. While tragically both Joe Ranft and Robert Goulet, his speaking and singing voices, have passed away, we'd still love to see a little bit of Wheezy somewhere along the way, even if he's no longer with Bonnie's gang of toys.

6 CONFIRMED: DUCKY AND BUNNY

Bunny and Duckie in Toy Story 4

In everything we've seen so far, these two characters, Ducky and Bunny, seem to come as a set. And how could they not, when voiced by legendary comedic duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele?

The two wise-cracking, tough guy stuffed animals appear to be carnival prizes, which perhaps hints at one of the settings for the forthcoming adventure. We don't know a whole lot about what our favorite toy friends will be up to, but the inclusion of these two hilarious characters in teaser trailers and reactions has given us a slight glimpse at what's to come.

5 WANT TO SEE: PEAS IN A POD

Peas in a Pod in Toy Story 3

Perhaps the cutest toy to come out of any of the Toy Story films or shorts, Toy Story 3 introduced audiences to Peas-in-a-Pod, an adorable group of three pea siblings nestled comfortably in a zippable pod owned by Bonnie.

The three peas -- Peaty, Peatrice, and Peanelope -- haven't had much to do yet, but the film could have fun with watching these adorable little characters grow up from tiny babies to still tiny but adorable toddlers, all while remaining the same teeny size.

4 CONFIRMED: WOODY

Woody in Toy Story 4

How could a Toy Story film ever possibly be a real Toy Story film without everyone's favorite cowboy hero? Tom Hanks' Woody has unarguably been the protagonist of the series from the very beginning, and it makes sense that much of his actions already seem to be driving the plot.

In the latest teaser, Woody is searching for Buzz at the carnival. In the earliest plot descriptions, Woody was looking for someone else entirely. Regardless of who he's looking for, it's clear Woody is once again front and center.

3 WANT TO SEE: RC

RC in Toy Story

Perhaps a victim of being one of the more dated toys in the Toy Story franchise, lovable RC, the radio-controlled car, hasn't been seen since Toy Story 2, nor has he played a major role in a film since the first Toy Story.

But the role he played in that movie was a massive one: he helped Buzz and Woody save the day in the film's final act, and he deserves a hero's welcoming return in Toy Story 4, if this is truly the final chapter in the ever-growing Toy Story saga.

2 CONFIRMED: BO PEEP

Bo Peep in Toy Story 4

After 20 long years of waiting, viewers were thrilled when it was announced that Bo Peep would be making a triumphant return to the Toy Story franchise, and even more so when her totally badass new look was introduced.

Toy Story 3 featured a brief moment in a which a brokenhearted Woody reflected on Bo's absence, and in a film already filled with so much change and emotion, that particular scene struck a nerve with viewers. Thankfully, Annie Potts is set to take on a larger role with the adorable, empowered shepherdess.

1 WANT TO SEE: ANDY

Andy Davis in Toy Story 3

Toy Story may have always followed the adventures of the toy characters more than the humans, but at its heart, this was always Andy's story, too. With Andy giving the toys away to Bonnie at the end of the third film as he prepares to head off to college, it truly marked the end of an era, for toys and teary-eyed fans everywhere.

But a return appearance of the boy we all know and love would make Toy Story 4 something truly special. Andy may have given the toys a new home, but they'll always be a part of him, just like he'll always be a part of them.
