The Tower of God manhwa is full of mysterious characters. SIU, the artist behind the manhwa turned anime, plots his masterpiece with a dramatic reveal always lingering in the back of his mind. Even the protagonist of Tower of God is still full of mystery.

Though fans have read the story of Bam the Irregular since 2014, his backstory is still as vague and empty as the cave viewers are left to believe raised him. Bam is not the only mystery in the tower, though. Other characters— like Rak, Shibisu, and Hatz— have yet to have their past drawn out.

10 Bam

Though he may be the protagonist of Tower of God, Bam's past is shrouded in mystery. The irregular entered the tower in season one as a boy, but readers are given little to no information on what Bam's life was like before that.

In the few scenes that SIU has included to expand on Bam's backstory, readers learned that his life before the tower was dark and lonely. Though a bit of light has been shed on Bam's true heritage, the information is sparse. It seems that SIU plans to draw out Bam's backstory for as long as possible.

9 Rak

Rak discovers his Shinsu ability by eating rocks

Rak is one of the primary members of team Bam, yet his history is still left up to the readers imagination. The only hint fans have of Rak's time before the tower is his obsession with turtles and his affinity with a spear.

As for Rak's connection to the tower, his lineage may one day prove to be as legendary Khun's. On the hidden floor of the tower, Khun Eduan marvels at the idea that Rak could be linked to the Ancient One. This ancient species is apparently as powerful as it is mysterious. Fans will treasure the day SIU expands more on Team Bam's resident Crocodile.

8 Shibisu

Shibisu during the door test _ Tower of God

One of the pieces that brought magic to season 1 of Tower of God was Shibisu. If his words are to be trusted, the tracksuit-wearing scout spent his time before climbing the tower learning a deadly form of martial arts. Though he does seem to be trained, he has yet to prove that his abilities are as great as he claims, leaving readers to question what Shibisu was spending all his time doing prior to being chosen for the tower.

Shibisu is also one of the oldest members climbing the tower in Season 1. His history has to be dense with loud and entertaining stories. The opportunity to explore his past and perhaps even find out where he buys his tracksuits would be a treat.

7 Hatz

Hatz _ Name Station _ Tower of God

Everyone's favorite swordsman comes to the tower as one of the most powerful characters in Season 1 of Tower of God. Even without the blood of Jahad or ties to the ten great families, Hatz manages to hold his own.

Fans of the series may wonder what kind of training Hatz had to endure in order to enter the tower in such a powerful state. Is there a master swordsman with the power to contest the great families somewhere inside the tower? Or perhaps Hatz is a self-trained savant that will one day surpass even the swordsman from the Arie family.

6 Hansung Yu

Hansung Yu _ Season 1 _ Resting _ Plotting

The submerged fish of Evankhell's floor is one of the only Regulars to turn down a position as a High Ranker. In order to maintain the mystery that surrounds him, Hansung Yu chose to stay on the floor of tests, as far away from Jahad's peeping eyes as possible.

Even though Hansung Yu has been plotting behind the scenes of this show since the very first episode, his own history is a mystery. All viewers know of Hansung is that he chooses to work with Fug in order to change the tower. Why he is so invested in Bam and Fug is unknown, but viewers would be happy to find out in future episodes.

5 Urek Mazino

Urek in the Hidden Floor _ TOG Manhwa

Urek Mazino is the Irregular poster boy of the tower. His past seems to revolve around his failed relationships with the Princesses of Jahad. Still, after demonstrating his incredible power as an irregular on multiple occasions, founding a group that rivals the great families in strength, and flirting with more than just one of Jahad's princesses, Urek is still kicking it.

The Urek fans meet in the Tower of God manhwa is beyond conflict. His power allows him to float in and out of the tower without the threat of death that most face. Surely there was a time when Urek was confronted with a power that he could not overcome.

4 Wagnan Ja

Wagnan Ja and Shibisu talk

Wagnan Ja is introduced to readers in Season 2 of the Manhwa. The arc focuses in on the blond haired regular as he meets a slayer candidate while climbing the tower. Longtime readers may have been upset with this arc for leaving Khun and Rak on the sidelines, but the title offers up a detail so interesting that fans will quickly embrace the leader of team Sweet and Sour.

The Prince of Jahad Arc doesn't give readers a ton of information on Wagnan Ja's backstory, but the title forces readers to question his lineage. The red ring he wears also seems to be an important part of his story, but its true purpose is still up for debate. Future episodes will surely explain how Wagnan is connected to Jahad more directly. Perhaps it is the blood of Jahad coursing through his veins that makes him so difficult to kill.

3 Yuri Jahad

Yuri reunites with Bam _ Tower of God

Though Princess Endorsi and Anaak are as mysterious as Yuri, Ha Yuri Jahad is the perfect character for SIU to use when explaining the process required to become a princess of Jahad.

As of now, all that is known of Yuri is that she is famous for her ruthlessness and for owning two of the thirteen month series weapons. Her past as a member of the Ha family is entirely unknown to readers, as is her path toward becoming a princess of Jahad. Hopefully future episode will dive into Yuri's backstory and shed some light on both the ten great families and Jahad's court.

2 Karaka

Tower of God _ Karaka confronted by Jinsung Ha

The Slayer Karaka is first introduced to readers as a villainous member of Fug that only plans to use Bam to achieve his own nefarious goals. As the series continues, Karaka becomes one of the strongest members of Team Bam. Though his allegiances are still in question, fans of the series have likely softened their hearts to the Fug Slayer after watching him help Bam in his battle with Kallavan.

The red ring that sits on Karaka's armor coated finger is the only hint SIU has given viewers regarding Karaka's past. This ring connects the Slayer with Wagnan Ja and Jahad himself, but it is still unclear how they are connected.

1 Evan Edrok

Evan Edrok speaks to Hwaryun about Bam's Path _ Tower of God

While the red haired Hwaryun may be Team Bam's resident Guide, Evan proves to be an invaluable ally in seasons 2 and 3 of the Manhwa thanks to the powerful items he carries in his backpack.

Evan's past seems to be linked to Jahad and his Princesses, but there must have been a time when Evan climbed the tower on his own. Though he was introduced before many of the franchise's staple characters, Evan's backstory has been largely glossed over up to this point in the Manhwa.
