Diamond Comic Distributors and Top Shelf Productions have reached an agreement naming Diamond as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of the publisher’s English-language graphic novels to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets, as well as the non-exclusive distributor of Top Shelf’s English-language graphic novels and comic books to U.S. and worldwide specialty markets.
Founded in 1997 by Chris Staros and Brett Warnock, Top Shelf Productions is dedicated to quality comics storytelling, and has produced a number of graphic novels that have helped revitalize interest in comics as a literary art form. Among the company’s many acclaimed releases are Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s From Hell (in association with Eddie Campbell Comics), Craig Thompson’s Good-Bye, Chunky Rice, Alex Robinson’s Box Office Poison, James Kochalka’s Monkey vs. Robot, and others.
“Top Shelf has risen to become one of the comics industry’s most respected publishers, resulting in an ever-increasing audience for the publisher’s titles in specialty market circles,” said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. “We’re sure that the variety and quality of Top Shelf’s many offerings will help the company find receptive audiences in the mainstream market, as well.”

Diamond’s Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Top Shelf’s graphic novels across the country. “Thanks to a number of factors, interest in the comics art form continues to build amongst mainstream consumers,” Schanes added, “and giving such readers access to Top Shelf’s library can only serve to further this phenomenon.”
