The newest "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" trailer is nine months in the making. Since its announcement in February, both "Arrow" and "The Flash" have been gearing up for the the new series, which features existing characters such as the Atom and White Canary and new characters like Hawkgirl, who recently debuted in the current second season of "The Flash." After a first look trailer accompanying the series' initial announcement and loads of anticipation, the ambitious, action-packed trailer is here -- and it's just bursting with clues and awesome moments.

Welcome to the future. Rip Hunter hails from London 2166, and the trailer shows us why he has collected this motley group of heroes and villains to stop Vandal Savage. Hunter comes from a future where Savage gets his way, and it isn't pretty. It's unclear whether or not the whole gang will take a trip to the future, but one thing's for sure: Hunter has a good reason for trying to prevent Savage's takeover from happening.

The future may be a bust, but its technology sure isn't. One of the first things Hunter does in the trailer is reveal his sweet ride to our protagonists. His vehicle is no TARDIS, but it still manages to get around -- through all dimensions, even time. As much of a rust bucket as it seems on the outside, though, it's got a pretty nice interior. It looks like that, in addition to some cool future tech, Hunter has a fondness for antiquity. In the very back of this shot, you can see a cozy parlor, complete with Steampunk-style gadgets like globes and a telescope.

The trailer also showed our team in action. It looks like Ray might just have a handle on his shrinking technology, as he displays here, bursting out in front of someone's goons. The Atom makes no short work of these henchmen.

Ronnie Raymond may be gone, but Martin Stein has found a new partner in Jefferson "Jax" Jackson. Jax can definitely hold a candle to Stein's former partner, as he takes to the sky in his brand new red-and-yellow costume, skewing very close to the character's classic DC Comics look.

Firestorm may burn brightly, but Captain Cold has enough chill to cool both him and his partner, Heat Wave. They prove themselves to be more than a handle for an entire battalion of soldiers, despite the fact they haven't got any powers for themselves. However, their guns seem to suffice here.

When he's not fighting an army, Captain Cold has his eye on the prize: a big old Maximilian emerald -- or is it? After the Man of Steel himself was namedropped in the trailer, there's a possibility this could be a chunk of Kryptonite. Alternatively, this could hint at the impending arrival of the Emerald Empress, who wields the Emerald Eye of Ekron for ill. The Eye gives her the ability to emit energy blasts and survive in the vacuum of space in addition to super strength and flight.

Like their comic book counterparts, Kendra Saunders isn't going to get along with Carter Hall, at least at first. Though the two are shown together quite a few times in the trailer, they aren't quite as lovey dovey as you'd think a pair of doomed lovers would be. It looks like there's even one pretty intense lovers' quarrel that results in a brawl between the two.

It's no small secret Negative Woman is headed to the show and that she'll be around during the time of the Cold War. It looks like we might see her fully transform into her super self, thanks to this snapshot of a nuclear reactor. That shadowy figure looks as though it might be Savage himself -- perhaps he'll have a hand in her transformation in his pursuit of ultimate power.

It looks like "Arrow" won't be the only show with a funeral season. Though the figures are shown in shadow, five of them -- excluding the Hawks -- are seen standing over two graves. As the Hawks are doomed to die and reincarnate for eternity, is it possible we'll witness one of their deaths in the show?

Hunter may hail from the future, but he's got a soft spot for antiques. It looks like he'll show up with a modified revolver in tow. A scene later in the trailer shows the piece firing blue lasers -- perhaps a little like Captain Cold's gun.

This fellow here was shown quite a few times in the trailer, so he (or she) is clearly important to the show. but it isn't clear to us who it might be. Our best guess is an updated look for Vigilante. What's your best guess? Chime in on the CBR Community and let us know if you have this mystery solved.

The trailer wouldn't be complete without its title card, and the trailer couldn't have made it any cooler. Each letter of "Legends" is formed out of our heroes' individual logos, which you can see flashing by before the big reveal.

Scheduled for a Thursday, January 21 premiere, "Legends of Tomorrow" stars Caity Lotz as White Canary, Brandon Routh as the Atom, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein (one-half of Firestorm), Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl and Arthur Darvill as time-traveler Rip Hunter. Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin will appear as Arrow and The Flash.
