Paramount and Skydance Media are reportedly planning a presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego for its sequel to Top Gun, titled Top Gun: Maverick.

Deadline reports the cast is secretly booking hotel rooms and buying tickets to San Diego, though franchise star Tom Cruise has not been confirmed to make an appearance. Of course, there is always a possibility Cruise makes a surprise appearance, with the site using his presence at last year's CinemaCon session for Mission: Impossible – Fallout as a recent example.

Paramount/Skydance Media last attended San Diego Comic-Con was in 2016 with Star Trek: Beyond. The film held an outdoor screening for fans, with the cast in attendance along with a live band.

Audiences at CineEurope 2019 were welcomed back to the danger zone as Paramount debuted the first footage from Top Gun: Maverick. Smoke filled up the entire floor before Mark Viane, President of International Theatrical Distribution, and Mary Daily, Co-President of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, made their appearance on stage. Both were dressed in full flight gear, just like Cruise in the action movie.
