It was also announced that the next trailer for the film will drop on Monday, Dec. 16, at 8 AM ET/ 5 AM PT. The first trailer premiered this past mid-July.

Top Gun: Maverick picks up 30 years after the original film, with Cruise's Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell still serving as a flight instructor until the title of Captain. The story of the movie is being kept under wraps, but Miles Teller will portray Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of the late Nick "Goose" Bradshaw.

The film is a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, which stars Cruise and Anthony Edwards as a pilots sent to a naval weapons school named Topgun. There, they meet Charlie, a civilian instructor at the school who eventually becomes Maverick's love interest, and Iceman, another Topgun pilot played by Val Kilmer, who considers Maverick's piloting style to be too dangerous.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, from a screenplay by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer, Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, and more. The film is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2020.
