Last time we talked about the Top Gun sequel, we knew two things: first, that Tom Cruise said he wanted to work on it with original director Tony Scott, and second, X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz were trying their hand at the script. Well, according to Variety, the latter wasn't actually the case.
The trade paper reports that Miller and Stentz are not only out, but didn't actually write anything. This paved the way for another hot screenwriter, Peter Craig, to put his spin on the further adventures of Maverick. Craig burst onto the writing scene with the 2010 crime film The Town and has since penned the upcoming Horse Soldiers and Fathers and Guns.
While no plot points have been revealed, the plan is to have Cruise and Scott to reunite with original producer Jerry Bruckheimer for the sequel.
