This week's top five consists of the top five coolest examples of someone else other than Thor wielding Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, which, as we all know, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of... Thor." So, let us see who out there is "worthy"....

Enjoy!

5. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman wielding Thor's hammer SHOULD have been a really cool moment. Sadly, though, in the midst of Marvel vs. D.C., it was just almost an afterthought.

Luckily, though, it was still a lot cooler than most OTHER people who could wield Thor's hammer (like Dargo Ktor - the future Thor).

And to be fair, it is kind of neat to see Wonder Woman determine that she wanted to beat Storm one on one (kind of dumb, since she lost, but kind of neat as well!).

4. Superman

Now SUPERMAN using Thor's hammer was a lot cooler because, while he only wielded it for a short time, George Perez was drawing it, and Kurt Busiek wrote a really cool scene for it (Thor's hammer AND Cap's shield?!? Oh baby!).

Still, since he only wielded it for, like, a minute, it didn't count as much as the other folks ahead.

Read on to the next page for the top three!

3. Eric Masterson

I like the CONCEPT of Eric Masterson very much. Just a normal enough guy, but also having the heart of a hero. An "everyman" who could walk with gods. It's a neat concept.

However, after he was finished filling in for Thor for awhile and he was given his own Mjolnir knock-off (a mace instead of a hammer) and went into the world as Thunderstrike the character lost a bit of its luster.

As soon as he became Thunderstrike, it seemed like other writers didn't know what to do with him. He was just a normal, good guy. There was no "angle." So, even though he was TECHNICALLY in the Avengers for, like, a year and a half, we maybe saw him for a total of ten panels. Usually showing up at the end of a fight for cleanup duty. It was too bad, as Eric was a cool character, but he just didn't have a great hook anymore.

It all led to where DeFalco claimed he always had planned - Masterson's death in Thunderstrike's last issue.

A sad loss of a good character.

2. Captain America

This issue stands out as a real fun read.

Captain America is visiting the Avengers headquarters when the place is attacked by followers of Seth. He and Thor are at unease with each other because Thor knows that his two best superhero pals, Cap and Iron Man, are having a big falling out, and Thor is in the awkward spot of "Do I hang out with Cap? Would that piss Tony off?" After all, Cap wasn't even going by Captain America at the time - maybe there was a good reason he wasn't being Captain America any more - maybe something's wrong with him. It's like an episode of the OC.

However, at one point, when Cap is beset by a pile of bad guys and in a cool Ron Frenz panel, suddenly they all go flying - because Cap has Thor's hammer, baby!

This eases Thor's nerves - after all, if Cap can lift his hammer, he must be all right.

I love the idea of giving Cap his props.

Cool issue.

1. Beta Ray Bill

This was the big one.

This is the one where other writers were all, "DUH! Why didn't I think of that?!"

In Thor #337, an alien manages to wield Thor's hammer!

What a stunning idea at the time!

And WHAT A COVER!!

Since then, Odin gave Beta Ray Bill a knock-off of Mjolnir, too (Stormbringer) and all was right with the world, because Beta Ray Bill was way too cool of a character to not see again!

Well, those are my picks! Agree? Disagree? Let me know!
