Here is an archive of all the past top five lists I've one over the years.

The Vision was really a remarkable creation by Roy Thomas and John Buscema. A great visual and an awesome approach to seeing humanity through the eyes of a being who wants so badly to be human while constantly feeling as though he is set apart from humanity. He translated to film very well in Avengers: Age of Ultron. One of the things that interested me about the vision, though, is how mopey he could get at times. I suppose when you introduce a character by highlighting that he can cry, it is only natural. Roy Thomas set it into motion but Steve Englehart picked right up on it when he took over as writer on the Avengers. I completely understand and approve of their approach to the Vision, but at the same time, it is fun to look back and amuse ourselves with just HOW mopey the Vision could be at times among his teammates. So here are the Vision's top five mopiest moments with his fellow Avengers...

HONORABLE MENTIONS

The famous "Even an Android Can Cry" moment from Avengers #58 is a great moment, but since the Vision is crying out of happiness, it really doesn't fit this list. But it's so famous, I figured I should at least mention it.

In Avengers #62 (by Roy Thomas, John Buscema and George Klein), the Avengers visit Black Panther's home, leading the Vision to make a rather out of nowhere comment...

Seriously, Vizh? Do you think he's like that with every new thing he experiences? "Thank you for the ice cream, Hawkeye. But did you ever think what it was like to be a being who has never experienced ice cream before?"

5. In Avengers #105 (by Steve Englehart, John Buscema and Jim Mooney), the Avengers run afoul of the Savage Land Mutates, including Lorelei, who can control men's minds with her voice...

When it doesn't work on Vision, this leads to a mopey interaction with the Vision and the Scarlet Witch.

A couple of issues later, the Vision's all, "D'oh! It was because her powers work on EARS and I don't really have ears, so her power didn't work on me! THAT's why!"

4. Remember that bit about Vision not having a home? It came out particularly mopey in this sequence from Avengers #87 (by Roy Thomas, Frank Giacoia and Sal Buscema)...

I just love the Scarlet Witch's reaction. "Uh...yeah, let's stop talking now."

By the by, the talk of morbidity came from none other than the PREVIOUS page, where the Vision just out of nowhere...

3.

Can you imagine being friends with a guy like that? "Sure, today's great. But we might all die tomorrow."

I love how "Even An Android Can Cry" was already a famous enough moment 30 issues later that Thomas could have Hawkeye jokingly reference it like that.

Read on for the top two moments!

2. The moment at #3 really should be #2, if you're just basing it on "What the what? Did he just say that out of nowhere?" but I have to put this moment from Avengers #102 (by Roy Thomas, Rich Buckler and Joe Sinnott) higher for the flourish in which the Vision displays his mopey soliloquy, including turning, walking to the window and grasping his cape for some reason. The whole package makes this moment stand out for #2 on the list.

Note that the Vision is particularly mopey because he saw Wanda and Hawkeye kissing earlier in the issue (Clint's advances were unwanted, but the Vision didn't know that).

1. The #5 moment in Avengers #105 set up this epic piece of mopiness in Avengers #106 (by Steve Englehart, George Tuska and Dave Cockrum)...

I am very irked at Rick Jones for barging in and interrupting the Vision's meltdown on the next page of the comic. I wanted to see how far he could go with it all!

The Vision and the Scarlet Witch got together soon after this (after the Vision figured out that whole "ears" thing), so the Vision more or less stopped being mopey. But feel free to suggest some moments you think deserve to be on the list!
