Here is an archive of all the past top five lists I’ve one over the years.
After detailing the worst things Cyclops has ever done, I thought it might be nice to also spotlight his greatest comic book moments.
There are a ton of possible choices, but a couple that stand out for me is Scott sacrificing his son to save him and then seemingly destroying Apocalypse afterwards (X-Factor #68), Cyclops’ wedding to Jean Grey (X-Men #30) and when he and Xorn racing back to Earth to save the day during Cassandra Nova’s attempt to conquer the Earth with the Imperial Guard (New X-Men #124-126).
5. “Get off my lawn”
In Astonishing X-Men #8 (by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday), the X-Men are attacked by a Sentinel. Cyclops shows why he is the boss.
Great line from Wolverine.
4. “Standing up to Sinister”
So at the end of Inferno, in X-Factor #39 (by Louise and Walter Simonson, presumably in some sort of coordination with Chris Claremont, since X-Factor was crossed over with Uncanny X-Men at the time), Cyclops learns that Mister Sinister has been screwing with his life for literally decades, including creating a clone of Jean Grey that Sinister controlled in an attempt to control Scott. So Scott is in bad shape, but at the same time, so are his teammates and friends as Sinister is kicking ALL of their asses…
3. “I’m not the Dark Phoenix!”
In the finale of Paul Smith on Uncanny X-Men in Uncanny X-Men #175 (story by Chris Claremont, finishes on Paul Smith’s art by Bob Wiacek), Mastermind has convinced the X-Men that Cyclops is a returned Dark Phoenix. Cyclops then must use all of his tactical skills and his knowledge of the Danger Room to stay alive until he can prove that he is not Dark Phoenix. It’s impressive work by Cyclops (and great sequential work by Smith and Wiacek)…
