Top 100 Comics for August, 2001

It's that time of the month again, when Diamond Comics Distributors releases the Top 100 best selling comics data and the story is pretty much the same as last month.

Marvel once again dominates the Top 10, taking 9 of the top spots, while DC keeps them from taking a clean sweep of the top 10 by taking the #5 position with Kevin Smith's "Green Arrow." Image makes their first appearance at #23 with Top Cow's multiple-cover "Universe #1" launch. In total, the Top 100 breakdown looks like this:

  • DC holds 48 of the Top 100 spots
  • Marvel holds 38 of the Top 100 spots
  • Image holds 8 of the Top 100 spots
  • Dark Horse holds 5 of the Top 100 spots
  • CrossGen holds 1 of the Top 100 spots
