The first trailer for Too Old to Die Young, the new Amazon crime series by Ed Brubaker and Nicolas Winding Refn, has arrived. Shared by star Miles Teller on Twitter, the trailer sees director Winding Refnâs distinct visual style come to the fore.Written and produced by Brubaker and Winding Refn, Too Old to Die Young is described as a crime drama that âexplores various charactersâ existential journeys from being killers to becoming samuraiâs in the city of angels.â
Miles Teller stars as Martin, a police officer who finds himself drawn into the criminal underworld of Los Angeles with the man who shot his partner. Together, they stumble into a secret world of assassins. William Baldwin, Jena Malone, John Hawkes and Cristina Rodlo also feature.
Prior to his critically-acclaimed work on Marvel's Captain America, Brubaker cut his teeth writing comics in the crime fiction genre, with works like Lowlife, Scene of the Crime and The Fall. He also contributed to the Batman stories Bruce Wayne: Murderer? and Bruce Wayne: Fugitive. More recently, Brubaker consulted on the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, based in part on his Captain America Run, and formed part of the writing staff for HBO's hit series Westworld.
Winding Refn, meanwhile, will be familiar to audiences for his 2011 breakout hit Drive, a stylish neo-noir thriller. He followed up this film with a second collaboration with star Ryan Gosling in 2013's Only God Forgives. More recently, Winding Refn collaborated with Too Old to Die Young star Jena Malone on the 2016 psychological horror The Neon Demon.
Brubaker and Winding Refn were both previously attached as writer and producer respectively on the proposed remake of the 1988 slasher horror Maniac Cop. However, at the time of writing, the status of that project is still uncertain.
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, all ten 90-minute episodes of Too Old to Die Young will hit Amazon Prime on June 14th.
