WARNING: the following contains spoilers for Episode 5 of TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Nasa practically thought he was dreaming when the beautiful Tsukasa saved his life, and she seemed to appear and disappear that moonlit night like a princess from a fairy tale. But she's real, and in Episode 4, it's time to consider more mundane matters, such as jewelry.

Tsukasa isn't just Nasa's personal savior; she's his lawfully wedded wife now, and is oddly bare-bones about it. She didn't show any interest in a fancy wedding ceremony or a proposal; for her, the paperwork was more than enough. Nasa is thinking that it's time to add all the bells and whistles to this marriage, even if they're a few days late.

Tsukasa & Nasa's Marriage Is Worth The Gold

The paperwork is done, and Tsukasa has already moved into her new husband's modest apartment and made herself at home (and had a weird, restless first night there). It's a new day, and Tsukasa doesn't have a care in the world. She's getting excited about sci-fi TV shows and movies, especially the works of James Cameron, and is confident that she can handle her aggressive foster sister Chitose. To Tsukasa, life is a gravy train right now, and she is down-to-earth about money too. Already, Nasa's friend Kaname tried to convince Nasa to shell out for a lovely wedding day and gold rings, and Nasa is determined to have this marriage take off like a space shuttle. Tsukasa feels differently.

It's a waste of money, Tsukasa argues, to buy all those things. Isn't their mutual love enough? Nasa is still feeling romantic, though, and he's imagining dazzling engagement rings and picture-perfect proposal scenes. What's more, Nasa's noticed how lonely and sad Tsukasa seems when he's not around. If he and Tsukasa each had a wedding ring, they could have something beautiful and tangible to remind them of each other and their bond. Surely, Nasa thinks, a classic symbol of marriage could give his wife something to hold onto while he's away at work. After a romantic moment on a park bench, Nasa is more certain than ever that his wife deserves a special token, no matter what it costs. To humor her husband, Tsukasa agrees to take him ring shopping.

Can Tsukasa Put A Price On Love?

Tsukasa takes Nasa to a jeweler called Honey Winston, and Nasa's jaw hits the floor when he sees the gorgeous but ultra-expensive engagement rings on display there. He's seeing prices upwards of three million yen, and they only get more expensive from there. Still, Nasa is a man on a mission, and he's about to (reluctantly) buy one of these top-end rings when Tsukasa drags him out of there, with an air of "I told you so." But this isn't the end. A nearby town has a discount jeweler, and Nasa finds friendlier prices there. Tsukasa is still skeptical that any ring is needed at all, even wedding bands, but Nasa is determined to give his wife what she deserves.

In the end, Nasa finds a pair of simple but shiny rings that cost around 32,000 yen each, a real bargain, and Tsukasa is finally won over. That evening, Tsukasa admires the new bit of jewelry on her finger as she and Nasa walk home. Its gleams nicely in the evening light, and she will definitely think of her husband and the bond they share any time they are apart. That was the goal all along, and Nasa can chalk this up as a budget-friendly victory for his new marriage. He's about to be on a roll, and surely, he'll find a way to top this and really show Tsukasa how he feels about her. Why stop now?
