Veep alum Sam Richardson says his role in the upcoming film The Tomorrow War has whetted his appetite for more action projects -- and that he wants to play one of the X-Men's founding members.

Richardson revealed at the "Big Screen Is Back" event that he'd love to play Marvel's Hank McCoy/Beast at some point in the future, comparing the mutant hero to his Veep character, Richard Splett. "I think Beast is like a big blue-haired Richard Splett," the actor told Variety.

Beast was previously played on the big screen by Kelsey Grammer in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, with Nicholas Hoult playing a younger version of the character in X-Men: First Class, Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix.

In Veep, Richardson's Richard Splett starts off as a campaign aide to lead character Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who does manage to win the presidency. Splett later undertakes a political career of his own, ultimately going on to become President of the United States in his own right. Notably, Louis-Dreyfus herself recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, portraying Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
