WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Tomorrow War, now available on Amazon Prime.

The Tomorrow War director Chris McKay teased that a potential sequel film could center on the origin of the Whitespike aliens.

"We had such a fun design process," McKay told Variety. "We talked about the world of these creatures, where they came from, how they were created or raised, and how they were maybe being used."

McKay added that he likes "world-building experiments" and would love to further explore the futuristic version of Earth they created for the film.

"I think that a sequel could go in a lot of fun areas and the ethnographic study of the Whitespikes in their world and where they came from, and what their purpose was, and all of that kind of thing," the director continued. "So yeah, I think that could be a lot of fun. And with this cast, too, we’re just getting started."

McKay's comments came on the same day that the film's star Chris Pratt revealed that he doesn't actually believe in aliens. At the Amazon Prime Video premiere, Pratt told reporters, "I don't believe in aliens, no." When an interviewer told Pratt that his costar Yvonne Strahovski believed she had "seen one in the sky once," Pratt responded, "Is that right? That doesn't surprise me. I think Yvonne, Yvonne definitely believes in aliens."

The Tomorrow War ended with Pratt's character, scientist-turned-soldier Dan, preventing the takeover of Earth by tracking down the crashed spaceship containing the Whitespikes. Upon finding them, Dan used the toxin he brought back from the future to kill the species.
