Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 2 needs to start hunting for a new director following the loss of Tommy Wirkola.

“I have been lately attached to a few more things, it’s just a matter of time and priorities,” Wirkola, who wrote and directed the first film, told Fangoria. “I did Dead Snow 1, then Hansel & Gretel 1 and then Dead Snow 2. I want to do something a little bit different now and not just do sequels. I did write the script and I hope to be involved in it. But yeah, I won’t be directing it.”

Released in 2013, Hansel & Gretel starred Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton the classic fairy-tale characters, who grow up to become professional witch hunters. While the film barely made back its budget in North America, it grossed more than $150 worldwide, earning a sequel from MGM and Paramount Pictures.
