After the sudden passing of the Power Rangers legend Jason David Frank, fans of the franchise have been mourning one of their childhood heroes. Jason David Frank, who first appeared in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as Tommy Oliver, dedicated a great part of his career to being a Power Ranger. His appearance in several of the series brought continuity to the franchise.

Jason David Frank is one of the few members of the Power Rangers franchise who donned more than one color. He was known for using four colors, some of them in different versions. It's difficult to choose which of Tommy's Ranger suits was the very best, but it's always possible to rank them.

7 The White Ninja Ranger Suit Is Too Simple

Tommy Oliver as the White Ninja Ranger

During Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, the Rangers travel to the planet Phaedos where they acquire the power Ninjetti. Here, Tommy connects with his spirit animal, the Falcon, and becomes the Ninjetti White Ranger. As a Ninjetti, Tommy wore a white robe with a power coin embedded on the chest and a black belt.

The suit had three versions: Tommy could either use a full mask, a half mask, or no mask at all. The Ninjetti suit is quite simple, especially in comparison to other Ranger suits. Besides, its origin isn't even part of the main continuity. While it's a nice reference to the Power Rangers' martial arts expertise, this suit is Tommy's most boring one. This is one of the harsh realities of watching Power Rangers.

6 The Zeo Ranger V Red Suit Is Mostly Plain

Tommy Oliver as the Zeo Red Ranger V

In 1996, Jason David Franks returned to the Power Rangers Franchise as the Zeo Ranger V Red. After he found a Zeo Crystal with the shape of a star, he became the leader of the Zeo Rangers. Tommy's Zeo suit has a star-shaped visor on his helmet and a golden and white neck that combines with his gloves, belt, and boots.

After three great seasons as the sixth Ranger, Tommy finally became the leader of a team. Unfortunately, his suit as the Zeo Ranger V was quite underwhelming. However, this isn't just because his previous suits were more accessorized, but because the Zeo Rangers have some of the worst designs ever.

5 The American Series Doesn't Explain The Red Turbo Ranger Suit's Original Story

Tommy Oliver as the Turbo Red Ranger

In 1997, Tommy Oliver became the first Red Turbo Ranger. His weapon was the Turbo Lighting Sword, and he had the Red Lightning Turbo Sword. Tommy's Red Ranger helmet had a design that reminds viewers of a truck, and it was based on the Super Sentai series Gekisou Sentai Carranger. However, it was never explained in the American series.

Given that the story of the Turbo Rangers doesn't match the topic of the original footage, the Red Turbo Ranger suit is quite odd. However, it has very nice technologic details and well-planned weapons. This is the suit that young Tommy Oliver was wearing when he said goodbye to the franchise.

4 Fans Loved To See Tommy Back As The Dino Thunder Black Ranger

Tommy Oliver as the black Dino Thunder Ranger

Seven years after giving the Turbo Red Ranger powers to TJ, Tommy returned as a Ranger in Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Jason David Frank reprised the role now as a mature Tommy who earned a Paleontology Ph.D. at M.I.T. and works as a Science teacher at Reefside High School. Here, destiny turned him into the mentor of Conner McKnight, Ethan James, and Kira Ford, who became the Dino Rangers. Tommy joins them as the Black Dino Ranger, controlling the Brachiozord. He's definitely one of the best Black Rangers in the series.

The Black Dino Ranger has a black and gold suit with the Rangers' logo on the chest, and his helmet has a fin that differentiates him from the rest of the team. This suit has golden shoulder pads that may remind the fans of the Dragon Shield that Tommy used in previous series. The Black Dino Ranger suit is really cool, but the real reason fans love it is because it marks the return of Tommy to the franchise.

3 The White Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Suit Has A Beautiful Royal Vibe

Tommy Oliver as the White Mighty Morphin Power Ranger

After losing the Green Ranger powers during Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Tommy returned to Angel Grove as the White Ranger in the White Light Saga. His suit, which is very different from the other Rangers, has black and golden shield armor, and golden bracelets instead of diamond-shaped ones. As the White Ranger, Tommy controls the Tigerzord using his talking saber Saba.

During his time as the White Ranger, Tommy also dons the Ninjetti suit. However, his traditional Ranger costume is way better. From the tiger stripes in the helmet to the tiger coin on his chest, this suit looks just as mighty as it actually is.

2 Lord Drakkon Suit Combines The Green And The White Ranger Suits

Tommy Oliver as Lord Drakkon

During the "Shattered Grid" event in the comics, an evil version of Tommy Oliver from the future arrives in the present after conquering a dystopian Angel Grove. This character, named Lord Drakkon, is the main villain of the event. Although the character mostly appeared in the comics, Jason David Frank also portrayed him in the live-action trailer for the comic and in the 20th episode of the Tabletop RPG show Power Rangers HyperForce.

It's a shame that the Lord Drakkon live-action iteration is short-lived because he has one of the coolest suits Tommy has ever used. His armor is a combination of the White Ranger and the Green Ranger, including the Dragon Shield, the golden bracelets, and even a hybrid helmet.

1 Everyone Loves The Green Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Suit

Tommy Oliver as the Two versions of the Green Mighty Morphin Power Ranger

Tommy Oliver first arrived in Angel Grove as a new student during the five-part saga "Green with Evil." While he became one of the most important members of the team, he started as a villain when Rita Repulsa enchanted him and gave him the Dragon Power Coin. When the others Rangers managed to break the spell, he became the sixth member of the team. The Green Ranger suit differentiates from the other Rangers because it has a piece of armor; a golden chest and shoulder pads known as the Dragon Shield. Besides, it also has golden details on its gloves and boots.

The cool Dragon Shield is actually removable. In fact, Tommy lent it to Jason, the Red Ranger, and Zack, the Black Ranger. The Green Ranger suit is the first suit Jason David Frank ever used during his time in the Power Ranger franchise. Fans still remember the dragon details with love. Even if Tommy had other suits in future installments of Power Rangers, this one remains the absolute fan favorite. Fans should know Jason David Frank used this suit during the Super Power Beat Down against Ryu, where it had golden helmet details that only made it cooler.
