Using the tagline "Her legend begins," the footage shows the franchise's new star Alicia Vikander's version of the gaming icon running through all kinds of obstacles and hazardous locales. Though it's tough to tell from the teaser, the film's pacing and cinematic action sequences appear to be influenced by the franchise's most recent series from developer Crystal Dynamics, which began with Tomb Raider in 2013 and was followed up by Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015.

The teaser for the trailer arrived online hot on the heels of the film's first poster debut, which finds Vikander's Lara Croft wielding a climbing axe, a typically benign tool that will most likely double as a weapon at come point in the upcoming movie.

Directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft, Walton Goggins as Father Mathias Vogel and Daniel Wu as Lu Ren. The reboot hits theaters March 16, 2018.
