Comic book writer Tom King announced on Twitter today that he and artist Francesco Francavilla have teamed up for a Sgt. Rock story, to be included in this year's DC Comics holiday special. To make the announcement, the acclaimed writer shared a simple image of Sgt. Rock standing in the snow talking to what appears to be a German soldier.
DC Comics released solicitations for the DC Universe Holiday Special 2017 #1 last month, with the one-shot's description stating that it would include a story in which "Sgt. Rock fights the Nazis on Hanukah." It was previously announced that Tom King would contribute, but this is the first word that Francavilla is involved as well, or that their story will focus on DC's classic war hero.

King is currently one of DC's top talents, with celebrated runs on Batman and Mister Miracle currently underway. Francavilla's previous DC Comics work includes several collaborations with Scott Snyder on a variety of Batman-themed stories.
The holiday special will feature some of the company's top creators, including Greg Rucka, Dennis O'Neil, Jeff Lemire, Max Landis, Christopher Priest, Shea Fontana, Joshua Williamson, Steve Epting, Rafael Albuquerque, Bliquis Evely, Otto Schmidt, Neil Googe, and Francis Manapul. Andy Kubert will provide the book with a cover. The 96-page one-shot will hit shelves on December 6.
