The mixed-media Tom and Jerry film has its eyes on Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage for the male lead.

According to ThatHashtagShow, Dinklage would play Terrance, the film's antagonist.

The film is the latest in a long line of Tom and Jerry features and cartoons, which was created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Often foes but occasionally friends, the cat and mouse have chased one another through innumerable adventures and will celebrate their 80th anniversary next year.

Tim Story, director of both 2005's Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, is attached to direct. The film is written by Bryan Schultz, Cornelius Uliano and Kevin Costello. Concept art for the film that leaked in January appeared to feature Jennifer Lawrence, though the studio is now interested in Zoey Deutch or Olivia Cooke as the female lead.

The new movie will be a live-action/animated hybrid. Just as in their original cartoon, Tom and Jerry won't speak in the film -- though presumably Tom will release his trademark shriek in response to at least one of Jerry's inevitable traps.

Tom and Jerry is due to begin production in June with a September finish. The movie is set to be in theaters April 16, 2021.
