Ever since Andrew Garfield reprised his version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have called on Sony to finally produce The Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Garfield in the lead role -- and apparently, even Tom Holland is on board with the idea.Holland, who has portrayed the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Peter Parker since 2016, discussed the prospect of Garfield returning for a third Amazing Spider-Man film during a recent appearance on the Phase Zero podcast. "I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3," Holland said.RELATED: Tom Holland Wants His Spider-Man to Team Up With Charlie Cox's Daredevil

"I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back," the actor continued. "That scene where he saved Zendaya, like, the fan reactions in the theater were so spectacular. So, should Sony decide to do that, they would have my full support -- and, obviously, so would Andrew."

Following Sony and director Sam Raimi's Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man film trilogy than ran from 2002 to 2007, Garfield took over the role of Spidey for Sony's Marc Webb-directed reboot The Amazing Spider-Man, which hit theaters in 2012. Webb and Garfield reunited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. However, plans for a third Amazing Spider-Man film fell through and the character of Peter Parker was soon integrated into the MCU as part of a deal between Sony and Marvel Studios.

Holland made his debut as Spidey in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, subsequently reprising the role in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, 2019's Avengers: Endgame, 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home and, most recently, 2021's No Way Home. No Way Home broke open the Marvel multiverse, allowing Holland's Peter Parker to join forces with Maguire and Garfield's respective versions of the character.

Holland recently confessed that he regrets not reaching out to Garfield when he first got the job as the MCU's Spider-Man -- though everything worked out between the two actors in the end. "Had someone said to me after my second movie that I was done and this other kid was taking over, I would've been heartbroken," Holland said. "So looking back, I wish I had the chance to make amends with him, but this film was our opportunity. It was not only an opportunity for him to make peace with the character and the studio, but it was also an opportunity for me and him to have this moment where we realize we could share this thing."
