Tom Holland's upcoming Uncharted movie will not only feature the video game franchise's signature bombastic set pieces, but they might even surpass action scenes he's performed as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During an interview on Variety's Award Circuit podcast, Holland talked about the long development history surrounding Uncharted and what to expect from his young Nathan Drake on the big screen. In addition to praising the chemistry of his co-star Mark Wahlberg as Victor "Sully" Sullivan, the Cherry actor described the stunts he performed for the film as part of "the biggest action sequences I've ever been a part of." Without spoiling what these sequences were or where they take place, Holland hinted, "The cuts and bruises and bangs I got from dangling off of wires and falling off of things was ridiculous."

Though Sony recently delayed the movie again, Uncharted previously released a number of photos on social media teasing the film's globetrotting adventure story. The film concluded production back in October, with Wahlberg sharing an image of Sully's signature Havana shirt to mark the occasion.

The Uncharted movie adaptation has been in development since 2008, one year after the original Uncharted: Drakes' Fortune released on the PlayStation 3 to critical acclaim. After production on the film's initial story faced delays and led to then-director David O. Russell leaving, it was rewritten as a prequel starring Holland as treasure hunter Nathan Drake, with Wahlberg recast from an older Drake to Sully. In that time, developer Naughty Dog followed up their game with the sequels Uncharted 2: Among ThievesUncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, as well as the PlayStation Vita prequel Uncharted: Golden Abyss and PlayStation 4 spinoff Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, turning Uncharted into a genre-defining Sony-exclusive franchise.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Uncharted stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg alongside Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. The film is set to arrive in theaters on February 11, 2022.
