With Sony Pictures and Disney splitting over the usage of the character, Spider-Man's fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems bleak. However, actor Tom Holland has confirmed he'll reprise the role in the future for a third film centered on the wallcrawler. Holland has now revealed the creative team behind the project has pitched the film and what audiences can expect from it.
“It’s not the end of me playing Spider-Man,” Holland told an audience at Keystone Comic Con in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “There’s definitely more to come. We sat down with some of our creatives. We pitched Spider-Man 3, which is going to be something very special, it’s going to be something very different. I’m just so grateful that Marvel changed my life and allowed my dreams to come true and Sony allowing me to continue living my dream. It’s a crazy week and it’s never been done before so we’ll see how it goes and it’ll be as amazing and as fun.”
The news of Sony and Disney's split came after Spider-Man: Far From Home became the highest-grossing movie for the former ever, beating out 2012's Skyfall. As of writing, Far From Home has grossed over $1.115 billion worldwide.
Now in theaters, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
