For months, rumors have been spinning that suggest former web-slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were joining Tom Holland for Spider-Man 3. However, Holland has seemingly detangled the web of gossip.

According to Holland, Maguire and Garfield will not make an appearance in the third Spider-Man. "No, no, they will not be appearing in this film," he told Esquire. "Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me. But as of yet, no. It'll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we've been making."

Holland has been known to be a massive Marvel spoiler, so it could be true that the studio hid some secrets from him and the rest of the cast. "They do it all the time," Holland said. "In [Avengers: Endgame], Robert Downey Jr.'s funeral scene, for the longest time I was under the impression that it was a wedding. I’m 100 percent sure that they're still tricking me."

In 2020, it was announced that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jamie Foxx would be joining the cast of Spider-Man 3. This sparked rumors that Spider-Man will be entering the multiverse in the upcoming film and come across other Peter Parkers, such as the ones played by Maguire and Garfield. The rumors were fueled by an official video posted by Sony Channel Latin America that compiled scenes from other Spider-Man films. "Who is your favorite Spider-Man? You don't have to choose — in the Marvel Multiverse, anything can happen," the video stated, adding that "in Spider-Man 3 you will quite possibly see everyone — yes — the three Peter Parker saving the world together." Although the video has since been made private, it understandably made fans believe the Parkers will join together for Holland's third adventure.

Directed by Jon Watts, the currently untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
