Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and former-Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. believes that Holland has an essential characteristic that makes him the perfect person to play Spider-Man.

Speaking to GQ while discussing Holland's upcoming film Cherry, Downey said that he knew Holland would be perfect for the role based on how he handled pressure. "To be able to weather the trial by fire that rains down on someone when taking on such a thing. Marvel fans are wonderfully yet terrifyingly committed. They absorb all of you. They expect to," Downey said. "Becoming Spider-Man is a bit like going down a K-hole: it's easy to get lost in there. Add in the fact that you are worked relentlessly. It's crazy. But Tom can handle it. I could tell. He's a beekeeper."

When asked to elaborate on the "beekeeper" comment, Downey had an interesting -- and rather hilarious -- response. "Me, Tom, the Marvel guys, we're beekeepers. It's not sexy. It's hot under those damn suits. You can't see us. We're sweating to make the sweet, sweet syrupy nectar to be consumed for our leaders. We're all beekeepers. Overpaid beekeepers...Tom's different. He's got moxie. He's needed it. I can relate to that. And I'm so glad he got this radically different note in with Cherry with the Russos in the interim. He's full circle."

Holland and Downey have acted opposite each other in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beginning with Captain America: Civil War, and running through Avengers: Endgame. In the same interview, Holland discussed a piece of advice that Downey gave him on set. "He took me to one side and said, 'I remember the feeling. I've been through this before and it is incredibly stressful. Enjoy the process and let your body take over,'" Holland said. "Which is advice that I still use."

In Cherry, which is based on the novel of the same name by Nico Walker, Holland portrays a student-turned-soldier wracked by PTSD who turns to bank robbery to fuel his drug addiction. The film, which reunites Holland with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo, is currently playing in select theaters and will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on March 12.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film is currently set for a December 17 release date.
