Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, addressed reports that he will return as Peter Parker in a new trilogy after No Way Home.

Speaking on the French talk show Quotidien, the film star was asked to respond to the recent rumors. "Listen, all I'll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about," said Holland. "I don't know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean. But it looks like it's an incredibly bright future ahead, and as I've said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me." When initially asked, Holland laughs nervously before jokingly stating, "Next question."

While many fans believed No Way Home to be Holland's final movie as the Web-Head, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal stated in a recent interview that another trilogy of films is already planned. "This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We're thinking of this as three films, and now we're going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies," said Pascal.

While Pascal's comments united a furor of speculation in the Spider-Man fanbase, Sony insiders have said that the studio currently has "no official plans" for another Spider-Man trilogy. Holland's future as Spider-Man has been in doubt ever since the actor said in an interview that No Way Home will be the end of a franchise.

"I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd be seeing a very different version," said Holland. "It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don't know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it."

While the future remains uncertain for Holland's Spider-Man, fans won't need to wait much longer to see the hero leap back into action. Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in theaters on Dec. 17.
