Tom Holland would love to make a horror film, even if he's really scared of them.

When actor Daniel Kaluuya chatted with Holland for Variety's Actors on Actors, he asked if Holland aspired to star in both event movies and smaller indie films going forward. "I think I will try and do both," Holland replied. "I’d like to do a horror film, but I’m so terrified of it."

Kaluuya received his big break as an actor starring in Jordan Peele's 2017 horror movie Get Out, which revolved around a Black photographer who meets his white girlfriend's parents only to uncover a terrifying secret. "Get Out is one of the only horror films I’ve ever really seen, and I love that film, but I can’t tell you how much sleep you stole from me," Holland admitted.

Although Holland started acting in the early 2010s, Holland didn't become a household name until he played Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. The actor has reprised his role of Spidey multiple times since then, with appearances in a pair of solo Spider-Man movies and both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Between his Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances, Holland has continued to act in smaller historical dramas like The Lost City of Z and The Current War, in addition to the animated films Spies Like Us and Onward.

More recently, Holland reunited with his Infinity War and Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo for the indie-drama film Cherry. Inspired by real events, the film stars Holland as a former U.S. Army medic with PTSD who begins robbing banks to pay for his addiction to opioids. Apple TV+ picked up the rights to Cherry in September 2020 and will release it in theaters on Feb. 26, allowing it to qualify for Oscar consideration under this year's extended deadline.

Holland is currently filming Marvel Studios' untitled Spider-Man 3, which arrives in theatres on Dec. 17, after being delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He will also costar in the upcoming Chaos Walking, a YA sci-fi novel adaptation. In between those two films, Holland will play a young Nathan Drake in Sony's movie adaptation of the Uncharted video game series, opening in theaters July 16.
