Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland confirmed he's chatted with Black Widow's Florence Pugh about bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's arachnid-themed superheroes together for a crossover outing.

"Florence and I have definitely spoken about [a Spider-Man/Black Widow II crossover]," Holland explained on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show. "And hopefully one day we can make that happen. That would be very cool."

This isn't the first time Holland has mooted a crossover between his Spider-Man and Pugh's Black Widow II, either. During a red carpet interview in December 2021, the actor singled out Pugh as the MCU star he'd most like to collaborate with next. "I want to work with Florence Pugh," he said. "I think she's amazing. She's so good in [Black Widow] and all the movies that she's done. I think she's fantastic. I think a really cool Spider-Man/Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist."

Nevertheless, Holland was quick to point out that he and Pugh's crossover idea "hasn't been suggested to [Marvel Studios'] big bosses yet." So, it seems that a Spider-Man/Black Widow joint outing isn't planned for Marvel Studio's Phase 4 slate, at least for now. That said, Marvel Studios President/Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige and Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal are currently mapping out Spider-Man's MCU future, which leaves room for a team-up with Black Widow further down the line.

Holland debuted as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He reprised the role in a trio of solo movies – Spider-Man: HomecomingSpider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home – as well as MCU-wide crossovers Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. His latest turn as the iconic superhero, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is currently on track to dethrone James Cameron's Avatar as the third-highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic box office.

Pugh first appeared as Black Widow II in Black Widow, released in 2021. Her character, Yelena Belova, was the adopted sister of Scarlett Johansson's original Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff, and inherited her sibling's mantle after Natasha died in Endgame. Pugh returned as Yelena that same year, as a foil for fellow junior costumed adventurer Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently in cinemas; Black Widow and Hawkeye are available to stream on Disney+.
