Tom Hardy may have trolled fans once again in a now-deleted post relating to Venom: Let There Be Carnage.ComicBook.com's Brandon Davis shared Hardy's deleted post, which featured a monstrous version of Venom chomping down on Spider-Man, which sparked speculation about what it could mean. However, Hardy is a professional and presumably would not give away one of his movie's biggest twists. Even though It's unclear why Hardy deleted the post, the 42-year-old is known for messing with fans.RELATED: Venom 2's Title Is Actually Worse Than The Phantom Menace

With the Andy Serkis-directed sequel set to bring back Hardy as Eddie Brock while adding Woody Harrelson's villainous Carnage into the mix, comic book movie fans are admittedly excited about Venom 2. While there's good news in Sony revealing the official title and first teaser poster, there was also the tragic news that the film's been pushed from its original release date.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage's new release date of June 25, 2021 puts it three weeks ahead of the untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel. Although there are hopes Tom Holland's wall-crawling hero could appear in Venom 2, Hardy's post is likely poking fun at the idea of Let There Be Carnage cannibalizing the competition.

Looking back at Ruben Fleischer's Venom, it made an impressive $856.1 million at the worldwide box office and broke records in China. Although the movie's success trailed behind Spider-Man: Homecoming crossing the billion-dollar mark, it was particularly close to Far From Home's $880.2 million. Venom managed to prove its critics wrong, and with even more hype surrounding Let There Be Carnage, Serkis' sequel could be snapping at the heels of Spider-Man.

The idea of Holland appearing in Sony's larger Spider-Verse is one that's gathered momentum over the months. Things came to a head with the release of the Morbius trailer and the surprising return of Michael Keaton's Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The studio's plans are already expanding with movies based on Kraven the Hunter and Madame Webb, with Venom 2 possibly setting up the future of the franchise. Holland has played coy about appearing in Venom 2 and Hardy has said he'd love Venom to fight Holland's Spider-Man.

Directed by Andy Serkis, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott and Stephen Graham. The film arrives in theaters June 25, 2021.
